Besides Video Games What Do You Collect? i collect cameras here is one i bought the other day at spca secound hand shop for $1 i love cameras
I sadly only collect video game related items. My two main collections is 3DS/Vita LE units and the other is Namco System 246/256 arcade software.
I don't know if I could really call myself a collector, but I find it very hard not to buy any piece of classic computing history...
Used to collect coins, I tend to only keep ones I find absolutely interesting now as I got sick of having far too many of them just sitting around and people constantly giving me bags of change they had on them after they went on a holiday. I still occasionally collect precious gems but I do end up having some of them turned into simple bits of jewelry that I can wear, other than that the only other non-game things I collect are Rob Dougan albums - to which I have a lot of promo pieces, press kits and some advance pressings of them (too many copies of "Furious Angels" to count at the moment)... I just wish he'd finally put out the album he's been working on for years.
I sometimes collect comic books, mainly Power Girl ones whenever I come across them. I don't hunt for them everyday like XBOX items.
Oddly enough, that just reminded me of another thing I collect. Remind me to smack myself up the head later mate. (I'm sick again so, not doing that right now. Haha). I collect first edition children's novels by Enid Blyton, so I have boxes of things like The Famous Five, Secret Seven and all sorts of other ones. Only buy them if they're hard-cover, good condition and there's been no colouring in or drawings that fuck up the books in general. (I probably collect weird stuff, don't I?) My partner likes to collect various comic books, films and some other things that are following a collecting tradition his late father started doing but we also end up collecting baseball cards for his mother and different types of swords for his brother.
It's ok, I'm sure everyone forgives you I think collecting weird things would be like bellybutton fluff lol.
Another comic book collector here, got about 50,000 of the buggers. Not really been collecting the last 6 years or so since I met my wife and had 2 kids. She spends my money and they take my time!
I collect just about everything. Comic books/manga, video games, coins, silver, electronics, computers, books, magazines, photographs and data (personal archives) are among my favorites. Pfftt, I probably have more seemingly useless stuff and functioning old devices than most.
There was a thread like this a while ago, wasn't there? Anyway, I'll just repeat what I said before. I collect all sorts of electronics: computers, monitors/TVs, video equipment, audio equipment, speakers, cables/adapters, etc. I also have a decent sized CD collection, a decent sized Blu-ray collection, and a small vinyl collection. I have lots of books, but I buy them to read, not so much for collection purposes. I've been reading Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. I'm totally fascinated by it/him. I have a handful of manga, all in English. I used to have a large collection of gaming magazines... I had a ton of OPSM (Official PlayStation Magazine) issues from close to their beginning until 99 or so. I got rid of those years ago, though. That's all I can think of, for now.
just digital or film too? I'm not really a collector, but as a film shooter I find some of the old exotic cameras interesting. Oldest I own is a Zeiss Ikon Nettar 517/16 - it takes stunning photos! Cost me £10
Nice to know there are a few other camera nerds on the boards Ive been into cameras for a couple of years (games for a few decades :highly_amused ever since I worked in a camera shop. Digital or film im not fussy but people tend to pass on old film cameras these days to me when they hear Im into them. Funny thing is I never thought of myself as collecting them until I had to buy storage space for them. :witless:
