I bought this thing many years ago from a seller in japan. Its a "Famitsu Model-F Gameboy Pocket, Limited Edition"... From what I was told, these were only availible by winning a contest that famitsu was running many years ago. I have searched high and low all over the internet and there isnt a scrap of information about this thing. I found one site that just had a picture of it among other rare gameboys, but it didnt have any descriptions or anything. This thing is EMACULATE.. Absolutly mint... Its never been touched by human hands outside of the factory. I took it out for the first time in 3 years today just to photograph it. I apologize for the poor quility, cheap 1.0 mpixel camera..

I keep the unit inside of this plastic bag, as well as wrapped with newspaper outside of that, then put inside of a cardboard box that stays in my closet.

This is the box opened,... notice all of the little slips and books still intact, and pristene..

Here is the unit itself. The unit has NEVER left the clear plastic baggy its in. Also notice that the original batteries are still there. (should I be worried about leakage?)

You can really make it out, but on the box itself is some classic engrish... "The spirit of want to make".... People have told me that having bad engrish on the box of a Nintendo product increases the rarity. I dunno about that....

anyways,.... what do you guys think about this?? Have you seen one, or one like it before? What are they worth? Ive been trying to find the value of this thing for some time,.... I cant locate another one for sale anywhere though, so I havent the slightest clue...

Yeah I have heard of it. It's a special edition. Don't know how much it was, or if you had to send in 4bajillion gavas to get it, but it's not a common item for sure.

If that applies to my M2 then I'd rather burn it then part with it for what I paid :)

  8. From what I've heard, it's a rather rare GB unit - definately a keeper or, if you must part with it, go for a higher price. Not sure what a higher price would entail on a Gameboy, but...

Im pretty sure it's the same one as the one i found on yahoo auctions japan. Famitsu released 3 editions in total there was the clear skeleton gameboy pocket which was available only by mail order i think that is the one you have, then the other 2 are gameboy light editions one was only given out as a prize & the other was available by mail order.

As for price it's going to be hard to guess as they are indeed rare & hard to come by outside japan. Inside japan they seem to sell cheaper for example the auction i took that pic from was selling it for 3500 yen. But i wouldnt let one go for less than $100 if i had one.

I would sell it for $100... in fact I have sold it for $100! I've only lost money on limited GB pocket/light stuff and I'd advise against collecting it unless you're a GB freak because I'm not as much of one as I thought i was ;)

Anyone in the UK will know that Telegames ALWAYS rip you off. Their prices are ludicrous.
