Some are obvious, but I'm curious as to what the story is behind other screen names used here. Is it a variation of your real name? Favorite game? One of your hobbies? Something else?

Here my name is obvious, but I usually use Shinjuku for my other logins like XBOX Live. I use it just because it "sounds cool" and let's people know I'm in Japan since Shinjuku is an area in Tokyo (but I don't actually live there).

Sojiroh is a character from the Rurouni Kenshin series, the one who had no emotions and killed his entire familly when he was 8. I think it's actually spelled Sojirou.

A few years ago I got into a bit of an altercation with a drunk guy that almost hit my friend with his car....I gave him the bird and he started running his mouth....he got his ass kicked. One of my buddies that was spectating posted the story on a forum and referred to me as "tha masha" (the masher) and people started calling me that. The "69" moniker is just from a buddy of mine that set up a mail account for me, so I just use that.

Mine is a evolutionary name, my first 'screen name' was andy_studmuffin (yeah i know! so very very wrong!) which then went on to andy_thedonn, then shortened to thedonn (always with the double 'n' but when i came to sign up for xbox live someone had taken than name already, and as i was a worms addict at the time (hellovalotofdonns was my troups name!) diddydonn was my favorite so it stuck!

My sons screenname is Jcabo, just a simple mix up of his name, he was 5 when he chose it and its stuck since then

And finally my lovely wifey is VoluptuaStax, (both screen name and pornstar name ;-) )

Right well i`m English, Jamaican and Scottish not Russian! The name like Diddydonn`s is evolutionary. It all started with an alias I created about eight years ago which was a play on my initials DR, after many iterations have arrived at DRussian.

Mines pretty cool because it's spelled wrong. I have Viii because I see people putting numbers on there names a lot so I decided to use roman numerals, and 8 was my favorite Final Fantasy which is what I was playing at the time...lol. I saw the word Frequency on a moniter cable, so yeah. What I hate, and if you've played with me on Live or at a LAN, is that people for some reason can't fuckin' pronounce it. I don't even get it. Fearqency? Frequincy? Fredquincy? WTF? Sometimes there joking but most of the time there just stupid.

Well I'm British and live in Shimonoseki just like a local author did back in the 18th century. Back then It wasn't cool to be foreign so he used the Japanese name, Yakumo on his work. I thought it would be fitting to use this as my internet name on my site and on all message boards :)

Well my name used on here is obvious as can be, refering to the 3D0 console/company which although i do not own one a 3DO and never have i am still interested in it.

My usual other name is Darklight or Darklighthim which i was going to use for this forum when decided i was going to register and it comes from my favourite band ever called HIM as darklight was the name of their 2005 album and i just like the name so much

Mine started when I set my up ebay account, i had just watched The King of Comedy that week and it had really effected me, a simply amazing performance by De Niro. So anyway, for those who havent seen it he plays a guy called Rupert Pupkin. So on ebay I tried to be called that but it was taken so I put kingrupert instead. Then I joined a few forums and didn't really want the king prefix as it suggests I think i'm somthing i'm not. So I stuck with just rupert.

Mine is a shortened version of my mtv europe #mostwanted nick.

I only got connected to the internet at home so I could get on the live on air channel. I "borrowed" a 2400 baud modem from work and hooked up my a500 with some tcpip software I downloaded from compuserve.

According to wikipedia it would have been season 3 in 1995, but I thought it was earlier than that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTV's_Most_Wanted

It was an invite only channel & ray cokes was trying to sex up the internet, so I used the name of a 1992 prince song.

I had to call long distance as there were no local access numbers back then, fortunately I didn't have to pay the internet subscription on top of that. However I did have a ukp 400 bill for the first quarter.

I honestly have no idea why I call myself "ave" (actually I pronounce it like latin: [ah ve] or in Japanese :D : アーヴェ).

There's a hotel near Kamata that is named after me

I used to call myself "aventus" a few years back, but it became ave because that is what I enter as a shortcut in shooters ect.

Actually, I think I just made up my name on the spot. I was more interested in tinkering around with a website and I don't remember having a name in mind when I was made to choose one, hence this generic name. JapanGames was taken so I added the hyphen just to get past that point in the screen. I guess I never got around to changing it...heh. I think Ryan from JapanGamesNow registered his name a week after I did, which was pretty random.

It's been my nickname since I was at high school. We all ended up with weird names and when we ever meet up we still call each other by nicknames. The name has stuck so solidly that most of my work colleagues in my previous few jobs have never actually known my real name. I answer to both, but prefer Parris and have considered changing it by deedpoll.

Mine is taken from a short sketch in an old radio comedy called Round The Horne - it's not a reference I made up but actually something my father has called me since I was ickle (I remember, about 12 years ago my dad sending me a fax whilst he was in some random country proclaiming me as MooseBlaster).

I have never actually heard the sketch directly, but it goes something like this:

(phone rings, which Horne picks up)
    HORNE: Hello?
MOOSEBLASTER: Oh hello. My name's Mooseblaster. Can I have yours?
    HORNE: Yes, it's Horne.
    MOOSEBLASTER: Thank you, Mr. Mooseblaster!

    Calpis = http://www.calpis.co.jp/

And for the record, I hate Calpis Water. The only Calpis products I can stand are tea.
I've had a fondness for the drink's name however for the last 11 years since my Japanese teacher told me a story about offering her American neighbors Calpis Water, and their reactions, and how they explained to her that it sounded like "cow peepees water" (in her words.)

I love Goldeneye, i could play that game and that game only until the day i died, so i just picked something relating to the game.

My other screen name 'ninjabearhug' is a very long story, to cut it short, i'm a black belt - ninja, i went through puberty really early and was very hairy as a kid - bear, offline people call me huggy - hug ;-).
