this would have been a an intersting piece to get. Not sure what the heck I would have done with it. http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?in_article_id=57926&in_page_id=2
That's a shame. Bet that thing was worth a pretty penny, though I imagine trying to sell it might raise some red flags.
Considering that I've seen an F-16, F/A-18, and an aircraft carrier all show up on eBay a Patriot missile would fit in just fine. Reminds me of the good old days when the military neglected to demil or otherwise sold off stuff it shouldn't have. Now you can't get any of the cool stuff you were once able to.
In the case of the planes they somehow managed to slip out intact. They both needed full restorations but apparently had all the necessary parts to do it. The carrier was a former British craft that was sold to Brazil who decommissioned it and then somehow it found itself on eBay. http://www.kungfo0.org/theweb/ebay/carrier.html Stuff like this is always murky waters. You never know if the government will throw a fit over their mistake and try to get them back. They recently confiscated three F-14's that made it out under similar circumstances. The DoD is so paranoid about parts making it to Iran that they would rather shred perfectly good jets then put them to other uses.
Just what is it about people in Florida and their missiles? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/08/18/ap/strange/main3181155.shtml
