So I was in the middle of reorganizing my console setup when I saw that the back of the Xbox labels the A/V Port as "Audio Video Input/Output". What does it mean by Audio Video Input? Is there some device that uses it for sending things to the Xbox? Can someone please shed some light on this?

That would be the TOSLINK, that the HDAV pack has. Both revisions.

It also has 3 mode select input pins with 3.3v logic signals to control the output format on the analogue outputs on the video encoder.
don't know if you would class that as audio video input really tho.

Probably was just a name but strictly speaking it also had the ability to sense when a cable was plugged in. Not sure I'd call that "input" though.
