They're JUST an LED light. The only one of these little adapters that does anything is the Mini Doctor which apparently lets you run 40k (NROM) ROMs from FDS disks, though mine don't have the presumably necessary BIOS...

So what was the point of producing these if they didn't do anything except light up a LED?

They are supposed to "protect" your cartridge slot from wear and tear of plugging carts in and out, perhaps to reduce the dirt building up. So in theory you use the slot protector till games don't work right anymore, remove it and replace it or whatever. If you look at the auction they both say "protect".

But it does add the handy LED light so you can see at a glance if you are going to remove a cartridge and possibily damage your Famicom. The two 'sticks' are basically to put into the adapter so that the eject slider will eject the cartridge from the adapter...

Lots of consoles had really piss poor add ons that didn't do a lot, I remember a joystick adapter for the Famicom which clipped over the pad and the buttons were pressed with basically a long spring, gives a new meaning to the word lag.
