What is a good SSF emulator for low-end PCs to play Castlevania?

I remember back in the windows xp days I was able to play SSF and Castlevania SOTN. It ran pretty much perfectly. When I tried the latest version of SSF and Castlevania on my currect machine it ran pretty terribly. I hear they increased the specs required to run SSF sometime so what is the latest version before they did this? I found a list of all the versions released:

    http://www.geocities.jp/mj3kj8o5/ssf/files/index.html

But it don't give dates or anything useful besides download links. I'm on a windows 10 machine.

I played a few Saturn games last year on my Bay Trail tablet and they were ok, I thought SSF was pretty much abandoned.

Ver0.07 beta R10 is the only one that worked on my computer cause something weird happens when trying to set the dpad controlls on later versions of the emulator. The box with the button prompts wont open all the way then ssf wont close without task manager.

It has a problem tho. I used daemon tools lite 10.3 and mounted castlevania, SSF will boot into the cd player screen and then won't progress past this screen. I know in the top left there is supposed to be a play game option instead of set cd + g channel. How would I get SSF to recognize it as a game disc?

Ok, SSF7 worked fine, turned out it was the ISO. I tried Sonic Jam and it booted just find. I had to repair some sectors in the Castlevania ISO using CD mage. Then I had to make sure I set the regions right and stuff. Then the game ran.
