Hello people! First post here. By the end of each day my love for Castlevania grows stronger... I want to seriously start collecting Castlevania stuff! Though, to be more accurate, I love MetroidVania, and I missed most of the Castlevania games for several reasons. Actually I don't remember playing a non-MetroidVania (except of Kid Dracula ). Now, the Winter is about to start, and I can't help of thinking to play each Castlevania game ever made chronologically, starting with the one on NES, including those I've already played. Maybe I won't like them all, I'm not sure, maybe it's my love for SOTN that's talking right now, heh. I've tried Lords of Shadow 1 and I liked it, though I remember I didn't like a couple of older Castlevania games that I tried, either because I was a kid or because it was right after playing SOTN (you know what I mean). Anyway, before starting my journey how about giving me some tips for the best experience possible? I've heard that the first Castlevania (and the third I think) are too difficult, though I've never faced any real challenge playing MetroidVanias. On the contrary, I was never using potions/health-items or use-items to make it harder. So I was wondering if it's better to complete it without saving, that way it will be like playing it as it was meant to be, right? I will use emulators... My other option is a virtual console on 3DS or Wii U maybe. Do you think emulators will effect too negatively the experience? As I've already mentioned, I'm planning to play them chronologically (order of release), is there any reason to change my mind on that? As far as I know there are remake/different editions of some of the Castlevania games, so I was wondering if it's better to play the original editions or the newest ones. Any exclusions...? Do you think is better to play with the lights on or off? Ok just kidding on this! Any other tips are welcome! Justify your poll's answer if you want.
This would probably be better suited in Off-Topic to be honest. Also, are you having DVDA mean what I think it means?
If it's more suitable in Off Topics it's fine if it's moved. Ok, because of your dirty mind I now know what your DVDA version is. Mine is different.
I mean, given some of the choices you're giving us here my version wouldn't be too far fetched. Random and sex-related; not too far off haha.
I thought Castlevania 2 was supposed to be hard because of invisible holes and being too vague in telling you what to do. There is a 'remastered' which fixes this though. Also, emulating, bleh. Since you are doing this if you are using save states you are NOT A MAN! That should have been an answer, "One who does not use save states".
Hm... I'll check for the better version then first to see the differences. Emulating = Free = Keep the originals sealed in the collection You are right, poll updated! Though that it's not fun when the game is not on the NES/SNES and it's too big. EDIT: I cannot add more answers. :/ As for DVDA, I thought at least someone would know:
That's what flash carts are for, you silly goose (<-- another poll option, only the manliest of men are comfortable saying that, cause they can beat up whoever says somethin')
@Richr0n's video shows Matt Stone's and Trey Parker's "band" they named DVDA after something I'll let you google for yourself.
If you like SOTN, you should try Aria of Sorrow on GBA or Dawn of Sorrow on DS. You said you wanted to play all the games in order, but you might want to try those 2 first, since they're probably the most similar to SOTN.
