I've always wondered what "Genesis" is supposed to mean. Is it a reference to the bible? What does a videogame console have to do with the bible?

Is that a Genesis Wily Wars cart if you don't mind my asking? Sorry, I'm not well educated on many non-sonic rarities :p

That label looks too fresh. :) It's a cart repro. I don't think there was ever a cart version for U.S.

There are well-made repros with US style labels, that's bound to be one of them. Wily Wars was only released in Europe and Japan.

Yeah good question. I don't think whoever proposed that particular name has been identified, nor a specific reason for needing any change revealed. Assuming it wasn't just marketing as usual.

How I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish some company'd made such a device for the Saturn's cartridge port.
Genesis= birth, which seems a valid point to promote a new console

But that's like naming a baby, "Baby".

How did I forget to mention the Wondermega? That's one of THE best systems ever, ever made.

There were copyright issues with the name Mega Drive in the US.
I've always wondered about the name Genesis too, then again, what the hell does "Dreamcast" mean?

I always figured it was to say that they were ushering in a new generation of graphics and sound and what not. To me, Saturn is a much stranger name. Where did that come from?

I think Sega's consoles were always codenamed with planets and some went on to be official like the Saturn and Neptune (although Neptune was obviously never released). I think I may have read something about the MegaDrive/Genesis codename being earth or based on earth. I can't get a source ATM but will look later. Anyone know anything about this?

I believe it's supposed to mean that it's "out of this world." I think that was even a marketing slogan at one point.

Dreamcast is pretty high up there on the list of weird console names. The image I always had was of someone fishing for dreams.

Yeah it is a reproduction, that's actually a picture of my DS-16. I got it from Electrochip before he went off and scammed a bunch of people (myself included) :(

The nice thing is he made one that had the saving feature working correctly.

    Aha, Janus.

I like the look of the Europe MD1 more than all of the other regions. Do prefer the larger 16-BIT logo on the Japanese models though.

I am having a very hard time finding a Mega CD1 locally at the moment. Refuse to get a model 2 because the model 1 is so much cooler XD and I cant fit the damn long second model in my gaming cabinet.
