Hello and welcome to the forums! You'll find a lot of stuff on the N64. There's threads about everything from the Ultra 64 protos to the upcoming HDMI mod. Some fun facts about the N64: the Japanese N64 and the North American N64 are identical minus some tabs in the cart slot. Remove the tabs and you can play Japanese games on an American system and vice versa. Out of the 32 million N64s sold worldwide, 20 million were sold in North America. One more fact, there was an iomega zip drive planned for the N64 but it was cancelled early in development.

There's a different project going on now by OzOnE. It's a universal mod board that works on any system with access to Digital A/V signals. It has been confirmed working on the N64, DC, GG, and GC. One of his thread's can be found here. It should be released in December or January.

In a nutshell, it takes the Digital Audio/Video signals the system generates and adapts it for HDMI. Unlike using the console's DAC and an external analog to digital converter (ADC), there is no loss in quality due to the process staying pure digital. It looks better than the analog RGBS mod.

Oh and speaking of the RGB mod, Tim Worthington, maker of the NESRGB boards, created an N64RGB board which allows RGBS on any N64, including later revisions that don't have RGB signals. His board uses a DAC to create RGB.

You're quite welcome! I know how you feel about composite video. I have mine hooked up like that for the time being. Thought about doing the RGB mod and using an SNES RGB SCART cable to get a better picture than S-Video but I think I'll wait for OzOnE's board as well and just skip analog video entirely.
