The sega genesis that I got, has the following RF connector. Unfortunately this does not fit behind the TV! The inner pin is actually like a needle, but the TV requires the inner pin to be at least as wide as a 1 inch nail. If anybody could let me know the connector types, I can then search for a converter of some sort.
The connector on the end of that Sega RF unit is very unusual. It looks to me as if the end of it is missing and the RF "needle" has come off with it leaving a very thing piece. Should look like this EDIT: Although there are images on Google which show RF units similar to yours but I've never seen an RF lead like it. I'd recommend finding a different cable. Forget adapters.
Hard to say from the photo, it's probably broken, but if not you'd probably just need what's commonly termed an "aerial cable", male to male. However, if you're going to bother buying something, may as well use a better signal. If your TV has a SCART port (unlikely since you're calling the console a Genesis), go for a SCART RGB cable. This is the best solution. If not, check if your TV has composite (yellow, red and white plugs - almost any TV that wasn't made in the 70s should have this) and get a Genesis A/V cable, a few bucks on ebay or similar.
Is it for a model 2? because if it is, you can mod it to a composite out cable. Edit: LINK! >>> http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=15118 That attachment is for a special antenna, it isn't a RF in.
You don't need to mod a model 2 in order to output composite. Both the model 1 and the model 2 output composite (I know because I own both) and I have heard that they are both capable of outputting RGB as well (with the right cable) regardless of region.
It's a Japanese style RF cable. The Japanese RF sticks out of a TV unlike the UK ones anyway that are imbedded in to the TV as shown in BackHome's picture. Yakumo
Sorry, should of been more clear. You can mod the RF cable and turn it into a composite cable. That is a American or Japanese RF adaptor. Like Yakumo said, that type of RF sticks out a bit.
Some more pics, just in case if it rings any bells! It would be interesting to know the right coaxial connector type!
We just told you mate, it's a NTSC (Japanese or US) style RF . You won't get that working on a UK TV unless you chop off the end and fit your own connector. Not a hard job and the part can be bought in any TV shop or electronics store for under 1 pound.
lol...i had no idea the antenna part of UK tv's were embedded. Until I read that post i was racking my brain thinking "that looks normal to me.."
Why not just purchase the correct RF unit? Anyways, yeah: in J/USA we plug or screw one of these onto one of these
