There are certain cars that are really valuable now. I am not really into cars, but I once saw a black 1959 Cadillac Eldorado (only a three digit amount of miles driven) go for about 100.000$ (there was a report on TV). Those were CARS. Why can't the Prius look like that? Some model variantions are also very sought after, like the 1950 Woody (think it was a Pontiac).
A DeLorean DM12 is my dreamcar as I'm a very huge fan of the BTTF trilogy. It's not that expensive either, goes for about 10-20,000$ depending on condition/other things. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DeLorean-Collectors-1982-Delorean-DMC12-only-41-000-low-miles_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a13Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem170270656023QQitemZ170270656023 But how would I ever have the chance to get one even with 20k$ in my purse? They are all located in the US and I don't wanna know how much a container delivery will set me back :crying:
They exported quite a few to the UK. Shipping is expensive but since the Delorean is relatively light, it should be no more than 2,000 Euros. (My best guess)
those kinds of car are just... wow. First i must have some time to get my driver licence!
There's a company that rebuild and upgrade Deloreans DMC-12. They bought they company rights and parts not used (from the assembly line on Belfast). They re-tune the Renault engine to be more powerful and reliable, not to mention they modernized the exhaust system, the suspension and the brake system. I would so get one if i could. The DMC-12 on GT4 is this modernized one. 200HP =P PS: The DMC-12 chassis is just one glimpse of the genious work of Mr. Delorean itself. The same man that gave Pontiac the Goat.
deloreans aren't that expensive due to very high maintenace costs. even in swiss/germany you can find those for less than $20'000.
Well, only 6.000 or so still exist. So i guess it makes it a "rare" care. It's valuable because the design, the brushed stainless steel panels, the gullwing doors, Back to the future,... High maintenance is correct. I guess in Europe is cheaper because of the engine, suspension and brake parts. Anyway, others car parts might be trick. Still a lot of people would pay to have one. ray:
yeah..me included :love2: weren't there above mentioned disadvantages (and if i still would live in the swiss).
i once saw two deloreans on the autobahn. i thought to myself "wow, must be a convention somewhere around here"
I live on Long Island and you see them every couple months. They are almost always in very good shape for some reason. It's hard to keep them looking good living in the Northeast. Those frames rust out very easily.
You'd be surprised how many non collectors come to my place and appreciate the stuff I have. I honestly got into it because I got sick of emulation or clones. I really enjoy having the original experience. It's also cool owning the japanese copies of your favourite games/systems. Considering they came from that country. I just think it's a fun hobby. And definitely a cool way to experience something that you usually can't experience anymore.
