So its that time again, I can upgrade my phone in about 2 weeks. I haven't really had time to leek at anything yet and with work being so busy it might be a while before I do get the time. I currently have the Nokia N95 (Silver) 8bg with O2 on a £30 a month contract. I get 400 cross network minutes and 500 texts (or something along those lines) I am after people's opinions on - What phone should I get? Is there any good tariffs about at the minute? I am not bothered about changing companies as frankly O2 have been shit with me this year (even though I have been with them for 7 years now) and we had nothing but trouble when the gf upgraded about 2 months ago. I would prefer a 12 month contract but I know alot are pushing towards 18 months at the moment.
You can get the tmobile G1 free with better contract for £30. Its not a perfect phone but its very nice. Plan is 18 months but upto 700min or 1400txts or any mix of the two. Free G1, 8gb memory card, and "unlimited" 3g. Now im not with Tmobile as im on one of the cheap 02 no term contracts. However i was with tmobile for about 5 days while waiting for a simcard to be delivered. Was meant to be next day delivery but they sent it via royal mail and it took like 3-5 days. I made a complaint and went to cancel and they offered me half price line rental for 3 months. To be honest i would of stayed as the service seemed lovely. However i get free 02 to 02 calls on my contract and 200mins and 400txt for £15 a month. Makes it cheaper to call between me and girlfriend. I moved from orange to O2 seeing as they wouldnt match my plan that i had for the last year. O2 customer services and website is shit though.
I am with 3 and get 500 mins and 4000 texts for about £25 a month for 18 months (mix and match 500) and i really like them. I have had god customer service from them as well when i was looking to upgrade.
Depends on what you do with your phone, really. iPhones are cool but not if you need bluetooth, for example. Same with the plan - what do you use it for? O2 are good for international texts. 3 are good for international calls or even using MSN and skype, but crap for international texts. It all comes down to personal choice, really. That and area coverage.
Ah, I hate contracts and I'd try and keep them within 1yrs to 2yrs at most if you can, it will be really diffcult cause they have alot more control than most people think. A few years ago I had it out with a hardware company which was the source of my problem. They put new phones on the market before they put the software & hardware to have the capables to be able to unlock them. Also my phone for some reason was acting up, but the retailer & hardware people wouldn't do anything even though I was willing to pay for shipping costs my self. They want to charge me $30 to ship it to the east end of my country. I could have ship it my self for $15 or given it to a friend and got it out there for free. They wouldn't let me, cause they said thats how they make there money through shipping costs. Its funny they didn't tell me that when I bought it. :-( Sorry if I can't be of better help, good luck! :icon_bigg
I’ve been with T-mobile for years (15 years including one2one) my phones still say one2one when I put my sim in, never really seen the point in moving to different networks as all seem good at the start then you notice all the catches maybe I should move as I still end up with charges even on Flext 35. Hasn’t your network offered any incentives to stay usually I just ask for that PUK thing to transfer to another network and they offer up some measly compromise of a incentive have you tried that? With handsets the HTC Touch is nice its touch screen only so if you’re not into that it can be annoying but they also have the Touch HD I think that’s what it’s called which has a keyboard. I currently have a Sony X1 but even on upgrade that is a bit pricey.
I am also with three and even though I pay over the odds for my minutes and texts I pay £10 a month for X-Series Gold Which means I get unlimited internet access - unlimited SLINGBOX , which I use a lot and unlimted ORB, which is where I can access my home PC from my phone - SKYPE & MSN Messenger are also included as well So worth the money for me and also customer service is great as well
Just recently I was on my way to the cable company to cancel my subscription with them cause they didn't showup. By not showing up they lost a hundred a month easily. A mobile sales person caught me on the way to the cable company. I stopped and talked with him for 10mins. I told him I'am interested in getting a new apple 3G phone. He asked what I had right now, and how much do I spend per month. I said I have a regular cell without a contract and only spend something like $10 to $20 a month he said thats pretty good. I said well I use to spend alot more than that when I was on a contract, like hundreds of dollers. He than tried to sell me another regular phone for $15 amonth. I said I won't be getting another regular phone its of no use to me, I will be getting either a note book or the apple or maybe the RIM or most likely both. I said do to changes ie all the companies separating . I very well doubt I'am going to be bound by a contract. He asked why, I told him the story above ie my last post here, and wouldn't you know it, he head in that direction again after talking a while and couldn't guarantee a dam thing. Its the hidden things you have to worrie about, the unsee things, hidden cost. That could cost a person a G right off the top, if the person cancels the contract! PS: I'd like to buy the apple or RIM outright! I'am not getting screwed again!!! Later people!
