Hi.I bought yesterday a PS1 SCPH-5552 for 10 bucks because the previous owner (exactly the person I bought this PSX from)said the CD doesn't work.Opened it,gave a good clean, fixed the CD pot(this was actually the problem with it)and on my way in cleaning it I found a modchip. It has 5 wires, and plays both original and burned games. It's a normal 12C508 or 12C508\A,don't worry.
I can't find the installation diagram for this chip.
Here's a picture of it,sorry for being kinda blurry,I had to use my tablet to take a snap:

While browsing for PS1 chips,to see their diagrams and things,I found a installation of a chip that was EXACTLY as mine:

Any ideas what diagram was used?Any PU-18 diagrams I find are only for 4 wires or Stealth.

almost every psx modchip used the same ic : pic12c508

what differs is the code inside the chip

True, but some used the 12C508A too.I'm scratching my head trying to think what code this chip uses.I don't have any programmer or required pieces to make one.All chips I've came across in my country were all 4 wires (3 wires + a link for originals)and rarely a 7 wire or 8 wire, but never seen a 5 wire chip.Even I used a 4 wire chip for a 5552 back before I bought this one premodded.(the chips I found were a 7 wire in a 9002 and a 8 wire in a SCPH-102 PSone)

    12C508
    12C508A
    12C509
    12509A

All use the exact same code, they are completely code compatible with each other.

I know that. What I don't know is what HEX was used for this modchip, and what diagram was used for this install.

It just sounded like you were implying the 12c508a used a different code, one specific for that chip.

I assume the external oscilator is on the motherboard? Then,I got it,I made a diagram.
Based on the diagram,I don't think there's a difference if pin 1 is installed on that resistor or on the point shown in my diagram.

Also, for those who want to test their new PS1 consoles to see if it has a Stealth chip,if you have Strider 2,see if it gives you a stop message. If it does, then your chip isn't Stealth.
Built this diagram to be useful for everybody. Also, any ideas why my not all of my backups I have (preserving my originals!)work? The disc drive works,it reads discs but sometimes FMV skip like hell, and for sure it's not the laser,I cleaned it too,the chip is fine,so what could be?

If the FMV is skipping, its the laser unit.

It's a 5552,I wouldn't see why.The laser was moved to 3'o clock.I'll investigate tomorrow, even though I'm getting really close to what is the problem, and it's not the laser.

All lasers can fail, just because its a 5xxx series doesnt matter.

By laser unit, I mean the entire drive. If games are skipping, its not reading the discs well - simple as that.
