Hello to all Dont know if this is the right place but here goes. I am currently in the middle of gathering up all PAL original release Xbox games. I stay away from classics but have run into a hiccup along the way. It appears theres one game i have come across that was only released as a classic release in PAL format-Ninja Gaiden Black but with NTSC its not labelled a classic but as an original release. Major bummer. Are there any other games like this that were only released as a classic release in PAL format? Also,is there a list of games out thats absolutely 100% complete?? I am using a few different sites at the moment simply because one site will list something but the other wont. A bit frustrating to say the least. So is there a site thats completely accurate & complete?? Thanks in advance to all who amswer
Thanks for the but reply but that game did have a "original"release in PAL format as i have that game. Its just not that common in PAL format
Thank for that. It does help a little but it still doesnt really say which game was a classic only release & never released as an original release. Again, even that list is not correct. As one example,The Elder Scrolls Morrowind GOTY Edition is mentioned as a classic but the re-release of the original game is not even listed. To me even though the GOTY Edition was released 2 years after the original its still in some ways a original release as it doesnt look like a classic release or have the ugly cover a classic has.
I never heard of a game being classics only... Mainly that happens in Japan with the "World Collection" that I know of. In the mean time that's what Borman and myself are currently working on, there needs to be more accurate information.
Well,so far it seems Ninja Gaiden Black in PAL format is a classic only release that i have found anywhere. In NTSC it comes as an original. Possibly because in someways its a remake of Ninja Gaiden that PAL countries got a classic release,i dont know. Everywhere i have searched & searched this particular game is a classic only release in PAL,so i wondered if there were more like this. A definitive list & definite info is needed, glad someone is working away it properly than me just making little notes & getting frustrated, lol
I cannot think of a single game other than NG Black to be a classic only release. But yes, NGB has indeed only been released as a classic-version in PAL territories: My friend is a gigantic Ninja Gaiden-fanatic and he owned the original game and was nagging all the time because NGB is so great, but it's been discriminated for being only released as a sleazy "Classic" version that looks shitty on the shelf. @hippiedude If you count "exclusively released as classics", do you also count for exclusive content? For example, the PAL classics version of Splinter Cell 1 contains the Xbox Live bonus levels Vselka 1&2 and Kola Cell, both of which were previously only distributed through XBL as well as on the Official Xbox Magazine's DVDs.
I wasnt accounting for exclusive content, this is a whole other kettle of fish. I know theres a few games that were released as classics that had all this extra content that wasnt released with the original. Again, the problem is figuring out which games they were. The game with exclusive content are probably the only classic games i will bother with for simple reason the content they have isnt available anywhere else anymore & is a small piece of xbox history. In regards to Ninja Gaiden Black,it stinks PAL format gets the horrible classic cover but, nothing we can really do about it now The only reason i have come up with is that Ninja Gaiden Black is in someways just a re-work of the original game with a few little extras & easy level thrown in for those who cant handle the jandle:smile-new:Confusing,sort of,a pain in the but yes. This is why i wondered if this was the only one or were there others like it.
Interesting. The NTSC was Platinum Hits only and I've only ever seen the PEGI release as a Classic. But you do seem to be correct as a little searching turns up original style box art for that game in Australia. For Fable, it was because the Lost Chapters release was seen as the equivalent of a GOTY version. It was a game that had already been out, but was now being re-released with extra content. It got "original" box art for the PC release because that was the first time that game had been released on the PC in any form at that time.
Still doesn't make sense regardless. Reprint of covers happened with Halo when it got a PC release, it didn't instantly turn into Classics, it was black label for a while :/
