I just recently found PS2 compatible logitec mouse in the bargain bin for $4 USD. I was just wondering if there is a comprehensive list of which games actually work with the mouse? Also is there a way to make incompatible games work? Do I need a keyboard and does that keyboard need to be made specifically for the PS2? I was just wondering, but $4 isn't a whole lot to lose anyway.
Half Life is the only one I tried with mouse and keyboard, I use personaly use a PS/2 mouse and keyboard into a PS/2 to USB adapter, nothing Sony specific, Socom might work too with these...
Unreal Tournament works with a keyboard and a mouse too... I use the keyboard and the mouse from the linux kit, or a logitech ultra flat usb sometime...
FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus works with Mouse + Keyboard. You can buy an adaptor called SmartJoy Frag and use a mouse and keyboard to play games that weren't coded for it. Works great with FPS, according to some friends.
I swear I remember hearing that one of the lightgun games ran with the mouse too, but I cannot remember which one.
I suspect Resident Evil Dead Aim has USB mouse support. Theres are files on the disk called USBGUN.IRX and USBMOUSE.IRX. I assume they mean what they say they are.
Deus Ex: The Conspiracy works with a normal USB mouse and keyboard, although I don't think the box says so.
o/t: do you know if the ps2 version is any good? I tried a demo version on pc long ago, and i'd like to play the whole game one day. If it works with a keyboard and mouse and that it is as good or better than the pc version, i might give it a try.
The ps2 version of Deus Ex has a slighty different intro than the pc version. It also allows you to carry every weapon and item unlike the pc version which only has a limited number of slots. The ps2 version also doesn't use the key ring. I'd say it's slightly less challenging on the ps2.
I first beat the game on the PS2, since I only owned a Pentium 166 at the time. A few of the levels are different due to memory limitations, many of the models have been redone to look better, and there is no longer individual health spots (you just have a big health bar). It's slighty different from the PC version, but it's just as good of a game. I wrote a review on it at MobyGames if you want to read that (http://www.mobygames.com/game/ps2/deus-ex/reviews/reviewerId,49324/). I own both versions, but I'm also a huge Deus Ex nut.
I prefer the PC version since I mainly play PC games and the resolution is sharper since I only have composite video on all of my televisions. If you've played and beaten the PC version, there's not really any reason to get the PS2 version unless you want a slightly different game with a few different areas.
The pc is the only way to go when playing dx. There are way too many loading areas on the ps2 version, and the unlimited inventory hurts the game(with the pc version you have to think ahead, and bring whatever equipment suits your play style). I also found that reading datacubes or emails on the ps2 version was a pain, the text was way too large and blurry(though that might have been my crappy tv). I should probably stop now, I could go on about dx for days on end. In my opinion it is the single greatest pc game of all time, and somewhere in the top ten of all games. Are you saying you've only completed the game once? Sacrilege!
so far we have: Half-life socom unreal tournament FFVII tribes RPG maker III resident evil aim Dues Ex age of empires 2 Any others?
I read red faction 2 was mouse compatible. maybe the first one is too. Armored core 2 is. Bikkuri Mouse, a japanese exclusive drawing game needs a mouse in order to play. Myst 3 Exile can also be played with a mouse, from what i've heard. Quake 3? Dunno. Just thinking about games that could use it. Here's a fairly complete list of psone games that can work with the psone mouse, i doubt a ps/2 mouse would work, but here it is anyway (i think warcraft 2 is missing):
Well I've only beaten it 3 times on the pc(though I've played it about half way through once on the ps2, and way too many times on the pc) so don't feel to bad. I had no idea so many ps1 games supported the mouse, I may have to see about finding one of those.
