I got a big Rom collection, but the question is, what does all the extensions means ? I Understand that E, U & J are Europe (PAL), US (NTSC) & Japan but what about the M1, M2, M3 and f1, f2 etc ? Are there anyplace for info about those Roms versions? In general (NTSC) with [!] is recommended. Ensures a clean dump that plays at full 60hz speed. With various exceptions of course.
If your on a PAL machine more often than not your better off with (U) [!]. The exceptions are a few Rare titles such as Banjo Kazooie. Check the link below for more info. http://www.cubed3.com/topic/30186/ I've heard playing some out of region games will have problems with the audio pitch due to PIF related bullshit. If you come across a game like that you might want to use the (E) [!]. The only other exceptions are Jet Force Gemini where you want the [f1] rom and Donkey Kong 64 which needs the [f2] rom. Remember to force SRAM if your playing DK64.
To add to the discussion, some roms I find have (v1.0) and such. There is no just clean rip of cruisin USA that I can find so will roms with version numbers work?
(1.0), (1.1), (1.2) are all different versions of the same game. They are generally bug fixes and other little things. In Zelda OoT (1.0) Ganondorf's blood is red, but in later versions its green.
Oh I see. Wish I could find a starfox 64 rom with the multiplayer fix. If you do a turn around when someone shoots a bomb at you it won't hurt you no matter what. My friend used this exploit on me all the time and I'd love to play him again with a fix.
