Ok I may be wrong but I thought there was no such thing as a 4 wire mod chip for the PSone? I bought one off ebay without any bits (only wanted the laser). Took it apart and saw this: I'm unsure if this thing works but surely this isn't installed correctly? I thought there were more wires needed one the PSone??
It's a normal oldcrow 4 wire mod. If you have an ntsc model it's ok, but if you have a PAL model you need also importplayer. to avoid the use of importplayer you need the ONECHIP or a second bios modchip
No offense to anybody but kinda don't get why people still use 4 wire chips nowadays. With just a few extra minutes and couple extra wires, you can install a chip in stealth capability.
I've got a mod like this in my SCPH-9001. Granted, I didn't install it. My dad had put it in there when I was younger so we could rent games from Blockbuster and make backups haha. I've been meaning to replace it with a proper 6 wire chip but it plays my backups and imports perfectly so I guess no hurry.
Indeed, I didn't install this I only got this PSone for the BAM model laser for my SCPH-1002. Although I am installing a 4 wire mod to my PSX, why? because I don't play any games that use stealth and even if i did i can patch the ISO before i use it anyway plus 4 wires even though it is a couple of mins is just less hastle. Plus i know the Old Crow mod chips well and they have served me well over the years.
Stealth mod are only a "palliative". They are totally useless for PAL consoles and you can patch\cheat with AR\add switch to classic mod to bypass NTSC modchip protection. P.S.I see also that lots of anti mod protection don't work on PAL systems
