Maybe this is where the inspiration for that piano in the horror house in Mario 64 came from. When you walk past it it randomly grows jaws and starts to chase you around the room. Silly monster-pianos.
The clip shown is from the movie Hausu from 1977. It's a pretty crazy b-movie as you can tell. Heres a link to the trailer. http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=13052
Just looked it up on Amazon.co.jp and Toho for those who want/need more. According to imdb it was released both in the US and Germany, severly cut though (-23, -19min respectively!)
Thanks a lot for that info, MetalSlime. I'll ask the staff at Geo if they have it. Maybe lucky and find a DVD re-release ! THey have loads of horror stuff so fingers crossed. Yakumo
Quite welcome. There is a US and German dvd release, both of which are cut. The original Japanese version would be the way to go, if you can locate it. I assume you can understand the language pretty well. I'm a huge fan of the old Toho Studio films.
It turns out that a rental DVD was never produced so I ended up just buying it. Cheapest I found it was 5350 yen on Yahoo auction. Brand new copy from an online shop. Other places have it for 8000 yen or more ! Must be a cult classic. Anyone interested in seeing more of this? Yakumo
sure, could you infringe some copyright for the masses? a "fair use" would be to make a video compilation of the most cheesy/important scenes however, since I doubt many of us will have the priviledge to see that japan-only movie.
what I'll do is edit a few clips together with full copyright remrks pointing out the movie is property of Toho. Should be ok doing that. Yakumo
yeap, as long as it's short bits-n-pieces it falls under the "fair use" defence anyway. Generally speaking, any amount of clips under 50% of the movie's length should be fine
