    Tbh, not until I moved to China a few months ago did I ever get what people were talking about when the ''culture shock'' came up and I still don't really see how you can have it in Japan. China however is quite a different story..

    General things that might shock someone about Japan (especially if they were sent there, rather than being exposed to it for years through pop culture and choosing to move).

    -Nickel and Dime mentality
    -Exuberant costs involved
    -Attention to detail (this isn't always good)
    -Packed trains (and everything else)
    -Queuing for everything
    -Ridiculously long work week
    -The awesomeness of no last call or regulations on when alcohol can/can't be sold
    -"This is Japan"
    -Unbending of almost any rule
    -Stuff actually being turned into the lost and found
    -Lack of crime

    There's a really long corporate list.

    There are plenty of good graphic adventures and RPGs (The Dark Eye series) that are only coming out in the EU/UK for English versions! Most are missing out....
