The Ask Playstation twitter is jerking me around so I'll come to the experts. Yesterday after some DOA5LR the game soft froze after completing a round in Arcade mode, something the PS3 version also does. So I exit the game and the System freezes. I hold down the power button PS3 goes into rest mode........and remains in "Going into Rest mode, Mode' That is the orange light is pulsating and won't stop pulsating.

The Ask Playstation Twitter tells me to go into "rebuild data base" In safe mode, But I can't do that if the system won't shut off or do anything. So besides the last resort of Unplugging the system, is there anything I should do? Or is unplugging the system all I can do?

The rebuild database seems to be a common thing for resolving issues. They're saying to do this before playing the game again to troubleshoot maybe?

I'd personally ask the DOA5LR community if this lockup is common with their game.

When I happened that's what I did but they tell you that it should be an absolute last resort.

    Then there's your solution. :D

I guess there's nothing else you can do until it gets patched (if it ever does).

Really screwed with my PS4 too, even desynced my DS4.

I JUST got my PS4 last week too, installed a 2tb hard drive and all that good stuff. Would suck if something craped it out so soon after I bought it.

The pulsating orange light's happened to me too, just unplug it, it should be fine.

SO the solution is Unplug the system.

Well I guess we found out two things 1. it's a simple fix and 2. The Ask Playstation twitter is mostly useless.

Have you tried to stick it.... :D

And just to be a little bit serious - if something crashed turning it off won't hurt, leaving it on won't help at all.

    http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2014/10/28/sony-offers-solution-ps4-rest-mode-issue/

    October 2014

    Original Story:

Since the release of PlayStation 4 firmware update 2.00 earlier today, some users have reported that their system won’t turn on again after going into the newly named Rest Mode.

Responding to a few of the people experiencing this issue, the Ask PlayStation Twitter account said, “Try booting in Safe Mode and running options 4 and 5.”

Options 4 and 5 in PS4 Safe Mode are as follows:

    • Restore Default Settings – Restores the PlayStation 4 to the default factory settings.
    • Rebuild Database – Scans the drive and creates a new database of all content. This operation may take a long time depending on the type and number of data items.
Additionally, if your PS4 is stuck on the “health and safety warnings” screen, Ask PlayStation suggests you “hold the Power button, power off, and then reboot the PS4.”

Look at that. Considerably more helpful than that Twitter account. You aren't even getting paid for that, Syc.

Actually what I posted is what the PS Twitter account posted back in 2014 regarding the rest mode issue and is probably why they replied with the same exact line in 2016.

But DOA 5 LR locks up on Xbox as well, and multiple patches have been released for it. But it doesn't lock up the system, just the game freezes solid.

Well that's just the thing, it CAN'T TURN OFF when it's going into Rest mode, Unless there's a length of time to press the power button that results in a turn off.

What happens with DOA is it locks up. So I exit the game, and upon exiting the game that's when the system locks up. I suppose next time I should just turn the system off.

What happened to the days when console gaming meant you didn't have to deal with crashes, freezes, and all the crap that used to be exclusive to computers.

Only the games crash, not the consoles. Well I can't speak for PerpetualSleep4 as I haven't removed mine from the box yet, 20th.

I only have the 20th theme. I have a regular ass black matte console.

I swear you can fry an egg on that thing sometimes.
