Kinda curious what everyone's first car was, or will be. For me, it's about time I got one but I'm not looking for one in the US. I'm looking for one in Japan. Hopefully I'll be able to get a Nissan Skyline GT-S 4 door, something interesting, something you don't see, and something easy to work on. Anyway, what was your first car?
1987 Volvo 240. Champagne colored Station Wagon AKA Grocery Getter AKA Griswold Family Truckster. Where's your god now?
I still have to wait 2 years for me to be 18 and get a car. I don't care what anyone says, but I'm seriously considering a car from the 80's. The Volvo 240 is in my top 10 list of cars to get from the 80's. If I get one, it's probably going to come directly from Sweden or maybe from The Netherlands.
2007 Nissan Micra 2-door. Looked just like on the picture: It's certainly hasn't got the power of an M3, the looks of a GT-R or the space of an SUV... but it was my car and I loved it. Very reliable (not a single repair or problem in 4 years), fuel-efficient and powerful enough to keep up on German highways. Haven't owned a car for over four year now due to my student lifestyle, but looking forward to buying one again in a next year or so. This time around, it'll probably be something more powerful but older.
for me it was Mazda's Rotary Turbo RX-7 Also first car I got my license suspended after clocked 182KPH on newly opened deserted highway at night. Once I got the license back I switched to MX-5 Roadster and drove around till I got married where I promptly traded for Jaguar S-Type Sports.
Fuckin hoon lol I want something with more power now, after being on the road for about a year I've gained more confidence. I still have my 2011 Corolla hatch, it just never has the power when I need it, like overtaking etc. It's a great car though.
'81 Corolla 4 door sedan. It was boxy, simple, slow and dependable. As a bonus it had a sliding rag top which I have only ever seen on VWs. It kicked off my love affair with Toyota and after 13 years and multiple "better" vehicles I miss it the most.
Was a Nissan pulsar nx. It's actually when I started using pulsar for my online handle. My current car was supposed to be an Infiniti g35 coupe, but I ended up having a kid and my wife's car broke down, so it was to be a practical car and an auto. So that ruled out any car I would want, as a car should be manual, and the wife can nkt drive a standard. So I got an 08 Nissan xterra. Planning on finally upgrading to two cars in the near future, again. I am hoping this time I will be able to get something to satisfy my inner hoon. Hopefully a g35 coupe with a manual transmission. The funnest car I had was a 96 Saab 900 se turbo. I am surprised I never got cuffed and stuffed in that thing. It could lay down some serious rubber, and was fast and handled like a gocart.
Beaten up Ford Escort with quite high mileage, back in 1984; it was yellow, with characteristic rust spots. Hey, first car...
Mine was a 1994 Chevy Impala SS. Worked full time during the school year to save up for it. I wasn't actually looking for that car, but this one came up in good condition and I couldn't resist. I ended up owning it for 5 years. I still think it's the best car I owned, and definitely the most comfortable. The thing was huge, this car is almost a foot longer than a BMW 7 series, and it came in handy because I moved A LOT. I only needed this car to take my things, no uhaul, no trailer. Not even my tall friends would ever fight for shot-gun in the car because the back seats had vast leg room. Also it pulled hard on the freeway, any lane I wanted I could have it in this car, it was geared for the interstate. Unfortunately, a stupid lady hit the vehicle when it was parked downtown. With that damage and the rust creeping up underneath, I sold it while it still had some value. Hoping one day to find another Big V8 4 door sedan like it.
Though I appreciate all cars, I gotta love my imports. The car i had before my 08 xterra was an 01.5 passat 30v v6 4motion. Loved it for the same reason you loved your impalla ss. I called it my ghetto cruiser, and my gf at the time(wife now) called me a homo lol. I ended up bottoming out hard on a frost heave at about 70 in a 35. I thought I blew out the belly pan, but think I cracked the block somewhere between the oil pan and the valve cover. Could not see where I was loosing oil, but was loosing about 2q a week. Bought it with 145k and traded it in for my x with 210 and still got $2900 trade in for it. The dealers walked around it and sad like give him $2900. I toldy wife let's make this deal and get the fuck outta here. Car had the SRS light on due to a bad sensor in the seatbelt that cost like $500. The abs light was on due to a bad sensor. That car was loaded, along with the 900 turbo. The passat even had a cooled glovebox lol. Only reason I got rid of it when I did was I saw an opportunity to get something back out of it, and though if I waited I would loose all equity in it. Regret it bad. I bet I could have got 300k out of it. Car ran mint, just had to top off oil twice a week. Was comfortable as fuck, moved out, and was more than a blast in snow. That 30v v6 had a sound that just made your hair stand on end at WOT, even though it had stocm exhaust and intake.
2003 Chevy Tahoe. Burgandy Red with beige leather seats. Had lots of good times in the back with the seats folded down, if ya know what I mean Just for the sake of reminiscing I'm gonna list all the cars I've owned in the respective order: 2003 Chevy Tahoe (sold) 2004 Subaru WRX STI (traded in for silverado...stupid) 2004 Chevy Siverado (still have) 1963 Chevy Impala (sold) 2006 Ford Mustang GT (traded in for corvette) 2007 Corvette Zo6 (best days of my life) (sold) 2009 Scion XB (bought as a commuter car while I still had vette) (traded in for mustang) 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 (current car) Harleys 2008 Nightster (traded in for night train) 2008 Night Train (traded in for street glide) 2008 Street Glide (traded in for 2009 street glide LOL! dealer loved me that year) 2009 Street Glide (sold in 2012 for $25k on ebay.. bike was heavily modded) 2000 Dyna Sport (she was cherry, only 8k miles, but totaled on freeway..lady in BMW hit me) 2008 Nightster (current bike bought from my buddy for cheap, heavily modded it) Yeah, I sorta changed cars and bikes like socks for a while, but I'm happy to say those days are over and I've had my current car going on 5 years this October! I'm thinking of selling her though because I'm moving to San Francisco area soon and planning on switching to a bicycle and public transportation for a while since parking is impossible up there anyway. If I do end up buying another car while I'm up there, I'll probably get the new Prius coming out.
