Hello i need to repair a china dev xbox and need to remove the Power, Av, and ethernet card.

What is the best watt for an iron to remove the parts but with out burning it or destroying it?

Can anyone find a tut or give good advice about the connectors removal and adding new ones?

    No B.S. Please.

eh, i saw some pics how ppl have done it over there, just getting the old stuff off and sandwiching a cutout of the ethernet/usb on top of that part of the board...

i can find that link tho, go figure, did find this tho http://bbs.a9vg.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1283458

a convection wand would be best for the job imo

i use a 85w, but it still doesn't have the power to loosen them connectors had to use a heatgun last time, best bet is to buy a decent desoldering iron.

yeah a heatgun is better in this case if your careful, because you cant melt all points at once wiht one soldering gun.

btw fyi the xbox uses leadfree solder which requires more heat then normal solder, leadfree solder in the xbox melts at 217C

Well I ditch the soldering iron and use a pen torch to remove the connectors, works da*n good, going to get modeling clay and or welders clay to use on the dev kit, so I won't burn it. Post updates and pics as soon I'm done.
