I have a proto that I'd like to dump (Ninja Gaiden 3) but I'm not sure of all the ways. Is CopyNES the only way to go?

You could send it to someone else who can dump it for you?

Easy for someone with a programmer and knows how to use it (like me, if you need it doing?)

I assume due to the mappers and such - dumping via retrode etc would be potentially complicated.

the best way would be sending it to someone you can trust. people have destroyed protos trying to dump it themselves.

Indeed, which is why I offered.

Whether or not he trusts me is another matter though!

I'd be inclined to dump directly off the chips - then you'll have a backup of the chips as well if any ever do fail.
You can never have enough backups! :encouragement:

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'd like to be able to dump the game myself as I want to get a couple more protos under my belt from the NES library. I was going to get a CopyNES off retrousb but I don't have the skills to install it on the NES. If someone has one that's preinstalled I would love to buy it

    Uh oh, what happened? :suspicion:

That's the spirit! Those CopyNES boards sure do look like a great idea for dumping! Someone's gotta have one! :topsy_turvy:
