I remember them foolishly buying the rights to many games acclaim published or made without consideration of the licenses attached to those
    properties.

Here we are six years later, their forum is closed and nothing
    changed on the front page.

The list of Acclaim titles Throwback now owns the rights to (according to a 2006 ign article)

    Aggressive Inline
    Extreme-G Racing
    Extreme-G 2
    Extreme-G 3
    Fur Fighters
    Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge
    Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance
    Iggy's Reckin' Balls
    Legends of Wrestling
    Legends of Wrestling 2
    Re-Volt
    Showdown: Legends of Wrestling
    Summer Heat Volleyball
    SX Superstar
    Vexx
    XGRA: Extreme-G Racing Association

The person in charge has a twitter thread https://twitter.com/tmaduri
perhaps enough people can tweet at him to get a real answer on
what happened. On his twitter page he's still touting the purchase as
ip worth 3.5 billion in sales.

Fur Fighters was actually a product of Bizarre Creations in the UK. Looks like Acclaim bought the license from them originally.

Aggressive Inline was a super fun game back in the day. We played the crap out of it. I don't know if there's still a market for a roller blading game but it'd be cool to have another one.

The thing is these people bought a bunch of licenses, I doubt they are transferable.
