Well, I'm bored and a bit pissed off because I'm bored. I really need a good games fix. Anyway, the way some people write "THE" as "TEH" is pissing me off at the moment because I can't understand why. What's it all about? The same number of letters are used and the same letters are used as if the word was spelt correctly. So why spell it wrong? It reminds me of the scallies, chavs, townies, fucking arseholes or what ever they are called in your area when they would write 9T7 or 9T9 instead of 97 or 99. Completely dumb in my opinion. Yakumo PS: sorry for the rant. It's just that I'm having withdrawal symptoms from no gaming and far too much crap on Sky Digital :snipe:
It's that bs leet crap. It's merely a step below speaking Elvish. I hope I'm admired by my skills to speak/read a real foreign language... not the 21st century equivalent of pig latin.
It's a number of things, i don't get this new way of mispelling words and such, for god sakes im so annoyend with pwned, is it that much better to write it that way? I say its just a way to start new slang and also lazyness, i mean half the time people just use lol as quick response, then they came up with lmao and theres varients of that too. So it's really an unsolved mystery.
Well sometimes I type slow. That's why when I'm text messaging some people they usually type fast and sometimes I don't finish what I have to say, so I take shortcuts like instead of saying people, I say ppl. As far as "teh" is concerned, that happens when I type too fast or it doesn't happen at all. Also, as far as posting I might get lazy and use some shortcuts but most of the time I don't. And when it comes to writing, I don't take shortcuts. People who do need a good punch in the face from a grammar book.
"Teh" and "pwned" originally come from misspelling "The" and "owned" while typing. I often will type "teh" in school papers and such just because I happen to be typing fast and it's a bit of a typo. "Pwned" is from people being retarded and hitting the "p" key instead of the "o" key. Either way, they got picked up by various online messageboard communities that thought they were 'leet' for speaking in fractured English, and decided it was fun and that they should do it as much as possible. It frankly annoys the fuck out of me, as it almost seems just as much if not more effort to intentionally mess up your typing as it does to do it properly. Plus it just makes you look like an idiot who can't spell. As far as things like "lol" or "ppl" go, I can sortof understand - with such a quick method of communication like instant messaging, oftem times if you take the effort to type everything out grammatically as it should be, you end up being 2 or 3 messages behind your correspondent, so we've switched to a sort of truncated shorthand or something. "Lol" for example is pretty much regarded online as an expression of laughter, and I'm sure we'll all agree that it's better than typing out, "That was extremely funny and I am currently laughing about it." :smt043
I'm a bit of a culprit for saying "teh". I just type fast and don't realise I've mispelt it ^_^ And occasionally I do use "j00", "pwnzed" and "r0x0rz". But thats because they are just words I've gotten used to seeing and intergrated into my typing thanks to all the playing of online FPS games all the time. I'm not a 1337 |-|4x0|' d00d or anything......But Sometimes I prefer to use the l33t words depending on the topic. I have a bad habbit of typing l33t whne talking about Graphics cards ^_^ So, in conclusion. Sorry Yakumo, I'll try to type in proper English some more :smt023 I did get a B In Higher English, Honest ^_^
I honestly just laugh when I see someone writing like that. Actually, one of the times I laughed the most in my life was when I first read "WTFOMGBBQ"
YUO ARE TEH GAY! i think the origin of a lot of these here misspellings, is (somewhat like someone said above) frantic mis-typings while trying to talk in the middle of an FPS game.. i know i find myself making a lot of those same typos if i try to talk and frag at the same time in UT2004 or whichever. especially if i hafta take my hand off the mouse to type works like 'owned'
:smt043 :smt043 So true. I know one of these guys who's such a sad git. I may not got out all that often myself but this guy really takes the piss. :smt043 :smt043 Yakumo
Some of it comes from North Engish accents "The" gets pronouced "teh" Peter Kay a northen comic uses it alot. "the internet" become "t'internet" Well thats how i think its started then Chavs nicked it and use it. Chavs? see this http://www.cecimoz.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Chavs.htm
what? its a mode to spell the word ''The'' as ''teh'' ? :smt017 if i spelled this word like that , its really because i misspeled it (certainly because i tried to write too quick.) so dont blame me. :smt043
hey as i see it my english is bad but i try the best speaking and writing it and i use lol or *ggg* because in the danish language we use instead of saying ha ha ha because *ggg* is a shortened version of the word "griner" that means laughing but in swedish and norwegian "grina" (sounds the same when you say it ) means you are crying so there is a joke from Norway where they say "the danes are not funny because they are grinning all the time ("grina")" and those 3 languages are VERY similar because of the viking heritage and the two last languages in scandinavian language group are Icelandic and the language called in danish færøsk (those two last languages are not very similar with the three other but are much more close to the viking language) but back to topic yeah i can understand Yakumos irritation of the molestation of the language, because i also get pissed off when i see the danish language being molested bigtime and i got 10 in danish when i graduated and 10 is right below a grade but to give a little explanation of the grade system in Denmark i will show it to you guys (and sorry for my big reply) 00 03 05 (and you failed if you get any of those grades) 06 (you just passed but not really much either) 7 8 9 10 11 and 13 as the highest grade so it is a pretty good grade i got at my danish oral exam. and i love the danish language.
re I go to Halo LAN parties fairly often, and it's incredibly annoying when I hear someone say "Jew/joo/j00 just got PAWNED". It's one thing to go to GameFAQs and read that shit by choice, but entirely different to hear it from people who should know better (come to think of it, it's just one person saying "pawned"...).
