Interesting. Generally I think that game journalism has increased in quality over the years, at least in comparison to the 90's. Certainly there's a lot of dross, and odd pockets of cringeworthy "new games journalism" or whatever (nobody gives a fuck about how Oblivion has "Dostoyevskian allusions", have you no shame), but I'd venture to say that the typical piece on an upcoming modern game, or features on gaming in a wider sense, are better now than they have been in the past. The real killers are the stolid regurgitation of PR emails and the rumour-mongering, both of which we have the trashy blog sites (and their reliance on hits) to thank for. Reviews, though... well, probably best left unsaid.
