What's That Arcade Game?

This is very random, but maybe someone out there will be able to help me out. I remember briefly playing an arcade game around 1993 or 1994 where I believe you play as a cute little ninja character, trying to dodge the attacks of other little ninja characters as you scale a mountain, with screen progression moving vertically (rather than horizontally as is the case with many sidescrolling games).

I think of this game from time to time, but I simply do not recall what the title of the game was. I know it's a long shot, but can anyone out there think of what this game might have been?

    Thank you.

Can't help you but I would suggest check out KLOV.com and look up anything with ninja in the title.

You're sure it's not more from the 80s than the 90s?

I'm not sure when it's from, just when I played it. I could see it being from the 80's.

As your profile information is incomplete, where are you from? Where would you have played the game?

Ninja-Kid II was known as Rad Action in the US.

The only other games I can think of that feature ninjas and are upwards scrollers don't have mountains to climb, but they are:

    Sega's Ninja

    Ninja Commando

Being a Neo Geo game, that would likely have been in a red cabinet - possibly with other games in it, too.

Sounds like Ninja-kun: Ashura Chapter aka Ninja-Kid II aka Rad Action.

If you say it looks a lot like Ninja Kid II, but not quite, then maybe what you played was a bootleg or a clone of the game.

Thanks for all the information, I appreciate it greatly.

I'm thinking it probably was Ninja Kid II (Rad Action), just because it is so similar to my memory of the game. The fact that I played this game around 17 years ago may account for why it seems a little off from what I remember.

I actually have sent out a letter to the person who owned the (now gone) arcade that I played it at to see if I can get a confirmation on it being Rad Action.

Pretty sure I remember having that Ninja Kid game on a pirate Famicom multicart, or at least that screenshot with the mountain looks familiar.

Anyway, I've been thinking about this one: what's the game where you control a spaceship that shoots blocks, and you have to form lines or maybe squares with the blocks? The screen scrolls vertically, so it's kinda like a cross between a 2D shooter and a puzzle game. I played this on the original Game Boy, but I've seen screenshots on an arcade version too.

The Ninja game is definitely Ninja Kid. There are loads of console versions as well under the name of Ninja-Kun.

Now that's being thorough! That, or geeky obsessiveness, whichever way you want to look at it ;-) heh

I'm trying to find the name of a game like Gunsmoke, but newer and multi-player. It was a shoot-em-up. You could select a Mexican style gun slinger, an American Indian, a Cowboy. Any ideas?

I'll throw in another: it was a hori shmup where there was a monkey boss who was sat in some sort of levitation/flying chair sort of thing. Not sure of the time frame (I played it in early 2000s, but the arcade had old stuff like original Outrun - complete with broken wheel  ) but an educated guess would say early early '90s. It wasn't very good iirc, but having played many shmups since I still haven't found what it was.

I want to say Chuka Taisen, but I'm pretty sure it didn't have monkey boss.
