The best one is usually the hardest one, the copper tape one. But there are easier mods if you don't mind a few jailbars.

I saw the copper tape mod...and is a lot trickier than the other mods....(hoping that using a good crt jailbars are not more pronunced than using a toaster)

a part of that, you would recommend the aforementioned mod that use rf rca to put out video signal?

    thanks

It's not hard to do,you just slide the copper tape under the ppu,no need to desolder.

I follow this kyuusaku schematic, having 330 and 120 resistors instead of 300 and 110 but can't succeed....

I tried with two different transistors, c546b and c1815 and got the same results, blurry dark and distorted picture that dies after a few seconds...

if I connect directly pin 21 to 120 resistor and 220 cap, it gives me a solid and stable picture but really dark....

I don't know if I have the wrong components or if I did something wrong....anybody can help me?

    many thanks

The issue is there are many variations Nintendo produced over the years, each revision of the mainboard would react a bit differently to video mods. So there is no one-size-fits-all cookie cutter mod that works on all NES and Famicom.

First, the schematic calls for PNP transistor, an NPN won't work the same way. I am not familiar with the 2 parts you used since USA uses 2Nxxxx code for transistor but Google search showed both you used are NPN. Also are you sure you have the transistor pin in right? It's easy to get the pins wrong because C/B/E are rarely marked on the transistor itself and the pinout changes with different transistor models. Look for PNP transistor first and check the pinout (usually on packages).

Second if you used polarized capacitor (has a "-" on one side to indicate negative pin), try reversing it. A non-polarized 200uF capacitor exists but they aren't cheap.

many thanks for give me hope, maybe the problem is only wrong transistors, I used the only ones I had and correctly wired e,c,b. in fact, I got the same odd shitty result with both transistors, on monday imma cop good ones and try.
board is a hvc cpu 07 hopefully this schematic would work

do you know some good pnp transistors to suggest me for this mod?

There's a pnp transistor inside your famicom, use that.

is that between the 2.2k and 220 resistor?

could be removed withot any loss?

thanks for givin me tips, finally I tried with a pnp transistor (after failing extractin the famicom pnp and got a npn instead of a pnp from the shop...goddamn) and got a nice picture even if jailbars are very deep n visible...

wonder if liftin pin 21 is enough to reduce them or if I have to put this copper foil under the ppu

To help with the jail bars solder a 100uf cap to pin 22 of the ppu and pin 20 of the ppu.

Pin 22 is positive and pin 20 is ground.

I lifted the pin and jailbars are not totally gone...

and I've already solded a 47uf cap between pins 20 and 22, 100 uf is better?

I would try also the copper tape method, but don't have copper tape....and I'm asking, there's not the risk copper tape under the ppu touchin pins and make a mess?

    thanks again dudes
