Hiya! I finally got around and grabbed a nos DSi and I was wondering what's the best flashcart for it? And where to get it from? Thanks in advance for any tips, my knowledge on the system is very limited...
I believe one of the R4i Gold (lastest version cart) or perhaps nowadays would be GateWay 3DS which also has a original ds cart (blue & black?) Version which does the job as well
@greg2600: supercard dstwo? this one? http://eng.supercard.sc/manual/dstwo/ @DSwizzy145 do you have any website of that R4i card? it's a hell when it comes to them, there are a gazillion R4 cards and makers... what about this one? R4 SDHC Dual Core Smart update: http://www.r4isdhc.com/rtswhite/ ? I can get one cheaply locally...
R4i gold is the one, it uses wood firmware. Works all the way up to 2ds But yes, know the correct r4 is hard to know.
I have a SuperCard DSTwo, and it's pretty darn good. It works on my 3DS with whatever the latest updates are for the system and card.
@keropi Yeah that R4 you've linked looks pretty rad & reliable! you should get that specific one if i were you since it's all updatable to support the lastest official DS Firmware and as of Supercard dstwo ones those are imo more useful for emulators with bigger support like Gameboy Advance & Super Nes/Super Famicom mostly afaik.
^ thanks Bad_Ad84 , I have found a retailer from the list... will order one from there but I also got that "dual core" since it was local for a very cheap price... didn't test it yet but I can still have it as backup or something... or just use it until the good one arrives
I don't know what this means. SC DSTwo plays DS games fine and dandy, emulates all the various copy protection schemes and whatnot.
Ah my mistake, sorry i'm not entirely familiar with these flashcarts but just only a few info here & there usually sometimes at GBAtemp, apologies for the mix up it's the fact people only contemplates it only as a great emulation device and not much focus on the DS backups department of the device
I think DSwizzy145 was referring to the ARM processor in the DSTwo, which can be used to run emulators for various systems such as the GBA.
I know this is going to be a really dumb question, but what does a Flash cart do? I mean what do you use them for, are they used to play games that you got via other ways or can they used in emulation of other game machines? Is there a version that works with the 3DS, can they be used to cheat in a game? I have one of those for my DS but it won't in the 3DS. It would be very help full if I could cheat in a few 3DS games! LOL =hugh
I've tried them all and I have to say, hands down, The Supercard DStwo is the most awesome of all the R4 cards. Haven't had any problems with loading even the most recent roms available, has great SNES, NES, GBA, GBC, and Genesis Emulation(via Plug-in or .nds). Can play .avi and .flv video files smoothly and has an app (plug-in) that literally emulates an iPod classic for music. There's been newer and much more updated emulators out for it recently so its support is still there. Get a DStwo card with a 32gb Micro SD and you're set. The DStwo is a bit more expensive than other R4 cards but I tell you, its worth it for all the things it can do. Works and is constantly updated for 3DS (also easy to update firmware which is pretty much just dragging files and replacing them on one specific folder) If you want to just simply play DS games, get an R4i Gold But if you want to do that and even more, DStwo is what you're looking for.
Speaking of Flashcarts, check out these wicked NDS/"3DS" multicarts you can actually buy here: http://3ds-games-cards.com/buy-supe...do-3ds-dsi-dsi-xl-ll-ds-lite-and-ds-c-44.html
Forgive me if the status has since changed, but it was my understanding that the Chinese team who developed the R4 card no longer exists. The R4 cards in circulation are clones using the R4 brand. I'd probably go with Supercard Team over any R4 card, if for no other reason, reliable support (if you can even call gray market product support reliable).
If support is your main concern, looking for a card that the (open-source, afaik) Wood firmware runs on is a good idea imho. That's not to say the SC support is bad, on the contrary - my old GBA-era SuperCard SD had excellent support for a long time.
R4 has become a brand now. All people that aren't totally savvy on the topic call all ds flash carts r4's. The one I linked above has great support and uses the wood firmware - so not reliant on the company providing updates anyway.
