What's the best option for a handheld that can play N64 games well?

I want a handheld machine that can play N64 games well. I know a custom made mini-N64 is by far the best bet (well, I'd assume so), but it would be too expensive to commission someone to make one for me, so I'll have to go for emulation on a handheld device. So which device(s) can run games like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark well and at full speed, and preferably have two analogue sticks (might be asking too much there, I suppose?), and how easy is the device to mod so that I can run the emulator, please?

A Pandora seems great, but I've heard complaints about hardware reliability, is that true?

No tablets, please, unless they have physical controls built in, as I can't stand touch screen gaming (I want to, but no matter how much I try I just can't get to like touch screen controls for real time input).

N64 emulation is still not very good. If it were, we'd be playing Mischief Makers without hiccoughs on our iPads and phones.

Sure it does... Just check out a few videos on this device running a couple of games on the N64 emulator & tell me if they look terrible ;) Looks pretty nice to me! imo

N64 emulation is not very accurate. Many games people may think run perfectly do not. They just don't notice the things that are wrong when they aren't game breaking or extremely obvious problems.

Perfect Dark and Goldeneye have been emulated for quite some time. I think both games have a control scheme that uses 2 N64 controllers to have dual analog stick controls. I don't think any handheld is going to emulate the N64 very well for games like Perfect Dark. Why do you need something handheld?

That looks fantastic! If nothing better is suggested, I'll probably get that, thanks.

Sadly, in my limited experience of N64 emulation, that's true (some games run perfectly, some don't run at all, most run well but with variable amounts of glitches). But I'm hoping that if I do get a handheld, then it will play PD and GE well enough for me to enjoy them.

And there are at least two emulators aiming for full N64 compatibility, MESS and Cen64 (http://cen64.com/), though neither are finished yet, and both will need very powerful machines to run the emulators when they are released.

Yes, PD and GE are the only games I know of to offer that feature, though I've never tried it myself. I use a Makopad 64 third party joypad, which to me is far, far better than the official N64 joypad, and it's great for all of the N64 games I play.

For on the train, whilst going to/from work, mostly. I can't play on my laptop then, as it's difficult (impossible, when going home) to get a seat with a table.

That looks nice, and for the price it's actually kinda tempting.

What I wanna know, however, is how well it plays Super Mario 64 hacks; namely Star Road (because Wii64 can't play it for shit and the ROM's too large to WAD; it won't run on official hardware; and I'm not a fan of PC emulation).

If you guys want a deeper inalyze on how the JXD s7300 or whatever device runs emulators, here's a video I've found: http://youtu.be/Bp5MbnCSLHY
