Whats the best way to clean your DVDs and CDs? I'm just wondering what the best product is out there for cleaning Cds and DVDs, etc Also what is the best product to help with a drive. E.g. I know they have a special CD that's function is to clean your drive.
Isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free microfiber cloth. Use compressed air on the inside of floppy/CD/tape drives + alcohol if you're disassembling them.
Personally i use medical alcohol wipes for cleaning discs with, and then wiping off with a lint free cloth. As for dvd drives etc, i normally open up the unit, use compressed air to clean them out, and then use a cotton bud with alcohol to very gently clean the drive lens
You can use all sorts of things, including bog standard clean, warm water and a little washing up liquid - not hot water, that damages them. Dry them off using a lint free cloth. Just make sure they are 100% dry before putting them anywhere near DVD / CD drive!
I clean many CDs and DVDs (Not CD-R or DVD-R though) with glasses cleaner! This stuff I use is amazing !! You can even use bog standard tissues without a single scratch including faint ones being left on the disc ! I use it to clean off simple stuff such as finger prints as well as hard to remove stuff such as greese, mold and built up shit such as dust etc from games bought from dirty independent shops and so on.
