The Mega ED is the better one. The end. An in-game menu (with the ability to return to the main menu without getting up), instant ROM loading, save states, support for the 10 MB Ultimate Mortal Kombat Trilogy ROM hack, the ability to function as backup RAM for the Sega CD, etc. ED v3 is just an update on the original ED. It can't do any more than the Mega ED.
