Back in Elementary School we would have time in the computer lab to practice our computer skills and during the last half hour of class we got to play educational computer games, this was during sometime in the early 1990's in Canada. In class there was this game I always wanted to get to play but I never did get to. but I would watch other people playing it ie: classmates... now I can only assume this is a DOS game or what other could it be for a very budget school computer lab ? perhaps Atari or something other ? The game was an adventure based RPG with very beautiful colors and backgrounds, this is probably why I can still remeber this unknown game to this day.. perhaps this was a point and click game ? it may or may not have been an educational theme. however the plot was like this: Start from a player selection of 4 small colorful furry creatures that look similar to q-bert, these characters would have different colors between them. adventures would take the player side-scrolling across bridges to mountaintops, to caves and cities all in a highly detailed 2D.. 16 or 32 Bit realistic nature atmosphere.
Were you a human character going from screen to screen from a sideview perspective? Lots of fantasy style forest screens and then some mountain scenes maybe? I remember something like that in our local library when I was growing up. Edit: Was it this? (this has the Q-Bert-like characters you mentioned) Or maybe this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlyuXxGT8-8 (this is the one I was thinking of)
Definitely not a human character, it was a character that was fictional and looked like Q-Bert. Yes the perspective was a side view perspective, scrolling game, there may have been some fantasy scenes but I can only remember the above mentioned scenes.
Sadly it is neither of those two games, I think the atmosphere of the 2nd game you sent is getting warmer however it is a bit too realistic. If I can think harder I can recall the graphics being 16 bit.
There was an older version of that game that had fewer colors, if it helps. If that's the right style at least, maybe it's part of that same educational games series (called the Treasure series), or by the same company.
Excellent suggestion, with a quick search on Google and Wikipedia. I discovered the name I was searching for all this time ! It is the Logical Journey of the Zoombinis ! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_Journey_of_the_Zoombinis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVB95kQQ9MM Now if I can send this to all my elementary school friends they will be both delighted and shocked at the same time Thank you very much Kao, you have totally made my day!
