What's wrong with this Game Gear (messed up screen)

I just recapped my first Game Gear today and the screen has bright patches where it looks like the contrast is jacked up really high. They are not affected either way by the contrast wheel.

I was planning on doing the McWill mod on a blue Game Gear. I think I will end up swapping this GG's motherboard into the blue GG's housing for the McWill mod, and hopefully that GG has a useable screen once it's been recapped and ii can swap it back into the old gray GG.
