OK, now even I'm getting sick of all the polls!! Driving games. I'm not counting them as sporting games. Feel free to count Mario Kart or Micro Machines as a driving game!! Hence, not sport! As you can only have 10 options, I decided on the "classic" era. As great as they were, I excluded the early Ataris, Colecovision etc. and there are some others missing too. Sorry for that! I thought this was probably the best way to balance them, though. Please vote for the console you think had the most decent driving games, not just because of one game! If you genuinely feel another console deserves to be voted for, feel free to say. And in the case of multiple systems listed, feel free to state which you're voting for!
Micro Machines 2 and '96 on the Mega Drive were teh pwn, but of course, the PlayStation was were *good* 3D driving games first appeared. There was Gran Turismo and GT2 which somehow fit all those 600-odd cars onto one CD! And Codemasters continued to pwn with the Toca and Colin McRae series. Also, if it wasn't for the likes of Driver 1 & 2 - though they look like complete ass now - we may have never seen GTA 3 and its successors.
Good points, Zilog. You could spend hours on MD playing Micro Machines, or SNES / N64 playing Mario Kart, but the playstation really introduced some class games in my opinion with Gran Turismo (and GTA for a bit of fun). Let's not forget Sega Rally on Saturn, though, and other well rated games at the time!
