You know how many scratched disks you could buy for that then sell for a profit?

Pro machines (not talking about industrial but something a small shop may have) are £600-£1,200+VAT. VAT is 20%. So $1,000-$2,000 US. Don't expect the same results as a pro machine, but I guess it's a step up from the horrible cheap kit things. And yeah, it's cheap for a polishing machine.

As for consumables, you're looking at £40+VAT ($75 US) for enough polish, spray and pads to do maybe 100-200 discs (depending how badly scratched they are) with the pro machines. If you call that 25p-50p per disc when most shops charge probably £2-3 per disc for a clean, it's not that bad. I doubt a consumer version would cost any more for the supplies - most likely less. And with the machine costing a fraction of the price of a pro one, it's a bargain for a home solution. If it works, of course ;)

Instead of brasso i use autosol metal polish for cars. A couple of goings over with a microfibre cloth and fresh polish each time makes discs nearly as good as new :)
