Great video, it really is amazing that they managed all that without a major collision. I'm still a massive F1 and although it may not be as gripping as it was back then it is getting betterThis season has been one of the best so far imho since the start of the Schumacher/Ferrari dominance witch turned the sport a bit stale.

This is better as it doesn't have STUPID FICKING MUSIC!!! (It's an F1 Race it doesn't need music). Instead it has the best F1 commentator in history, the great Murray Walker! It's the 1979 French GP at Dijon, notable for it being the first win for a turbo charged engine, the Ferrari having a Flat 12 engine, Gilles was driving the nuts off the car as Jody Scheckter (who won the drivers championship) was lapped.

    This is also worth watching.

Yeah, the good days seem to be over. Even BTCC isn't as ridiculous as it used to be even a handful of years ago.

One of the greatest F1 drivers ever. Loved his aggressive style. That "battle" with Rene Arnoux at Dijon-Prenois is epic! And was a battle for the 2nd position!

Rene Arnoux did the fastest lap of the race, 1'09.16, at lap 71 (80 Laps total). On the same lap, Gilles also did his fastest lap, with 1'10.84. It was only the 6th fastest lap of the race (overall), so Gilles did all he could to get that 2nd place. What a fantasic driver.

Same is true for DTM. The 80's and 90's (till 1995) were fantastic!

Without a doubt this was the worst accident, and most badly handled I ever saw. Ridiculous to have left the driver of the Ferrari, and the manner in which he is bundled into the back of the van (is it even an ambulance?) is awful.

With the visibility down to almost zero due to the huge plumes of spray coming up off the soaked race track, this accident was completely avoidable had they considered the risks to the drivers.

    ^ also when f1 cars weren't ugly

    This season's a slight improvement.
I don't know what to think about the new fuel regulations for next year.
I'm happy to see Force India doing so well.

Those are my current thoughts about F1

Sorry but I have to get this one out. As a son of a total fan of F1 (he followed all the great drivers, from the 60s to nowadays) I feel I have to.

You mean it was good when drivers actually didnt had almost *any* serious safety regulamentations and because that died of severe and painfull deaths? Villenueve himself died of a terrible accident, all he had was a basic "safety" belt. Of course, the spectacle was incredible, but in my opinion the price was too high.

For the rest, I must agree with you :)

I still remember Ayrton Senna (R.I.P.) and Nigel Mansells on track runs against each other, but friendship off the track. Those were the days for me, heck I remember once, that Nigel Mansell should drive the victory lap, and then he let Senna drive with him some of the way, while Senna sat half way in the car.

F1 needs to go back to 1,500hp 1.5L turbocharged I4's and six-wheeled Tyrells.

    They race spaceships now.
