Hi, I've paid to fly to Japan twice myself and have been once with business. I thought I did well getting a return flight from Heathrow via Frankfurt to Narita for around 500 pounds. Admittedly it was Lufthansa, but for that price I couldn't really complain. I'm trying to arrange for a friend to come along this time as a sort of gaming pilgrimage. He's quite keen to go late summer time, and for it to be cheap... Any advice on when the best time to travel is for affordability? And possibly if I can get a better price than £500 return and maybe a nicer airline like Singapore? Thanks, Mqark.
Side note....if you're going for gaming and you're going to Tokyo why not go during the Tokyo Game Show which should be in late September?
Yeah, the public can get in. I went last year. you have to buy tickets on line though otherwise you'll find yourself in a 2 hour queue when you get there. Yakumo
Just print up some business cards and stationary and come during the Business expo. I think you can register for that online, too. The worst thing that can happen is they say no and you come back the next day. We should start talking about meeting up if a bunch of people are going. Maybe get the same hotel or something. I'm not sharing hookers, tho. I draw the line at that.
Well, my personal trips to Japan have both come in around 500 pounds. That was with Lufthansa flying from London Heathrow. I doubt that I'll be able to get a trip to Japan (flight only) cheaper. I'll also get lots of lovely airmiles with my singapore airlines card. I'm definately sold on the idea of going to the TGS, it looks stupidly cheap to get in - about 1200 yen I believe each day that it's open to the public. I like the idea of meeting up if any of us go. I'm not so keen on the idea of sharing hookers ether (besides they're cheaper in Singapore (aparently!)).
a press pass for the official opening already is sufficient for me^^ just register online and bring the business card with. anyway, only can meet up on weekends.
Yeah, a press pass is really easy to get. If anyone needs a site to say they work for, just pick one random game site off the internet.
