They're going for $700+ easily. If you're looking for a collectors item I'd strongly urge you to pass.

As for where, here or ebay.

I've been paying attention to the market for them for a while. In the past 2 months two of them have gone on eBay, one for $1200 and another for $800. The one for $800 didn't seem like a reputable listing though and I didn't want to take a chance with that much money.

There was quite a lot of kits floating around a decade ago when studios got around to cleaning out their closets or went bust. My first Katana in 2003 set me back £172, but that is before prices seemed to rise due to increased demand and reduced supply and by the time I resold it due to money woes a few years later the value had doubled.

Even by todays standards $1200 seems steep though. I bought 2 for around £400 each in the last 2 years and resold one for around the same amount too. I still have my 3rd kit which I intend to hold onto for as long as possible, but I'm due to move into a smaller property soon and I will struggle to make room for it, though for once I don't actually need the money lol. I'll bend over backwards trying to keep hold of it though so don't get your hopes up :p

Also a Katana will sell for more if it has the BBA kit which is hard to come by, but it is probably more interesting than exponentially valuable. I'm sure the free market economy would determine a price for it should one end up on eBay.

Keep your eyes peeled on the marketplace, place a WTB ad in the appropriate sub forum and set up an email alert / search filter on eBay and then all you have to do is wait. You probably won't get one overnight but given time and money it will come and boy you will love it when it does!
