I have an old xbox controller the big fat one that came with my machine, but now at the contoller end just past the sort of rubber bit its all frayed and cut, i want to keep this because i relly like the old style controller so Is there anyway i can get it fitted with some new cable or will it be easier to buy a new old style controller???? Any help is appreciated
A standard USB cable should compatible, just find a pinout, desolder the old cable, and replace it with a USB extention cord, with the Xbox connector instead of a USB one. Use Google to help with the pinouts\where to solder.
thanx for the advice, i will see what i can find out about pinouts and were to solder on google and if its not to hard try myself.
i have a spare Large Controller here (untested) but the lead looks okay.. It camein a bundle of consoles i was given... Its yours if you want it? No Cost.
thanx i'll take it very kind of you, are you sure No cost becuase i don't mind but i could have given you at least something for it. I am currently going to take my controller apart when i have free time from college the damage is right at the rubber bit coming out the controller so i need to see what i can do.
nah no problem. The small plug extension which goes on the end of the PS2 plug to Xbox plug is missing though... im assuming you still have yours mind? lol PM me your Address and i will send it off asap.
every duke controller i've seen that was used regularly had this problem. I think it was a design fault.
that very true, i have a box of about 20 dukes all with the exact same fault, il get round to re-soldering them at some point...
Hey, go through that box of Dukes and check whether any of them have a sticker on the back saying "Dakota" - if they do, PM me lol - I'd take one off your hands. Also, are any of those Dukes green by any chance? Again, if yes, PM me and I will take them off your hands! But keeping this on topic. Replacing a cable is a straight forward job and only takes 10mins tops!
sorry parris, no dakota prototype pads in there! and i do have a 2 green dukes pads that came with a debug i had a few years ago (not the 1 recently sold on here), but theyre part of my personal collection im afraid just been messing with the dukes i have though, and thusfar har repaired 8 of the 22 pads ive got, now trying to repair a nyko airflow controller with a dodgey trigger!
i will be taking controller apart asap but college is eating up my time so it won't be untill next week and then i can get it fixed
3DO, my apologies, should have sent the controller out but totally forgot! Will get it sent this week (along with one or two others i need to send - Parris! lol) Cheers Lee
