I hope this is the right section to publish this. The history of how i started playing it (just skip it if you want) What happened with the Dance Dance Revolution franchise? The last game i heard of it was on the Wii, in a old magazine from somewhat 2010. The arcade machines were being replaced from the places i know (in a beach in 2007 they had 3 arcade machines, now in 2014 they only have 1 from 2011) to Guitar Hero and other machines. So, what have happen to this series die?
It was a long lived fad that died out in the primary market (japan). I was surprised it made it that long as the Japanese are very trendy and discard things fast. I think the closure of arcades meant that the large machines had no homes outside movie theaters. I think the primary expense with DDR is the licensing of the music for the machine. Last ddr product I remember seeing was the stand alone unit you could get in Japan for children. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KONAMI-DANC...ic_Battery_Windup_Toys_US&hash=item51b55230db
I mean you can only milk a product for so long. Once the Pads and Games met super depreciation second hand, there was no reason to continue selling new products as you could tell the market was saturated. (Nor was there any incentive to buy the games new, when they were dirt cheap second hand)
ASSEMbler is right, mostly the fad died out. The series has just been releasing games, but in trickles. They just released their latest version just labeled "Dance Dance Revolution" . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_Dance_Revolution_(2013_video_game)
In the US it seems to have died, along with the Guitar Hero/Band fad. DDR in Japan seems to have been replaced with Project Diva games. That much I can only gather by how many of those dance games keep getting made over there, plus maybe Idolmaster related as well.
I like Project Diva, the whole idea behind Vocaliod is genius. No egos, no primadonnas, the only sex tapes are all fan generated, no drug problems. So you can just have catchy pop hit after pop hit
Why do you know about these so called "sex tapes"? lol I thought Miku was futuristic and she's using tapes?
No kid want the DDR series anymore with the new Just Dance games that make them dance instead of jumping over arrows. I like the DDR more anyway and the songs it has.
