Hi, I just recently got into the prototype/development systems, I didn't really know they were on the "market" so to speak. Anyway, any suggestions on places to find these hard to find systems? And what are the best value buys, especially for someone who is starting a proto/dev collection? Any help you guys could give would be great. Thanks!
"market" -> ebay, yahoo, office close builer and here. no best value buys here all member also is proto/dev collection guy.
Ricky has it pretty much right. Dev stuff isn't cheap, and you can't find them anywhere. Dev systems come up on eBay and Yahoo Japan surprisingly often, but it's always a big competition as people in the market have some deep pockets. (lets hope you do too!) The best place to start would be right here though. ASSEMbler is the best place to find dev hardware. Just check the for sale forum. Theres some NR-Readers and discs there. If you check the front page news forum, you'll find Assembler's Ugly couch sale...or something like that...in which he offers up NR readers. I suggest you read up a little bit, and ask some questions first. As you may or may not know, a lot of this stuff doesn't play retail games, and isn't of too much use to the non developer. (It's still neat though.)
Thanks for the welcome! I'm mostly interested in Nintendo and Sega items, but I guess I'm just on the lookout for anything that peaks my interest...that's not too informative is it? At this exact point (wether that is point is a week, month, or year, I don't know) in my life, I'm also on the look out for things that wont take too much out of my wallet. I understand that can make it extremely difficult to get good items, and sometimes any items at all, but I also know that there are deals out there somewhere. (I never thought I'd be able to get a prototype of a Star Wars action figure for under $30 either, but sometimes you just get lucky) So anyway, I guess the long answer to your question is that I'm looking for Nintendo/Sega items that have a lower price point. Thanks to everyone for all your help!
Nope the SWC & SWCDX archetecture is limited to 32M. If you want a 48M SWC, you'll need a SWCDX2 which are arguably better in all aspects. Sites like Rob Webb's site who quote misinformed people are wrong. The SWCDX2 can technically be upgraded to 72M (64M + RTS RAM) but FFE won't do it. If you're just looking for any device that can play Tales of Phantasia, your cheapest solution for is a Game Doctor SF7, for only around $65 you can buy a 48M GDSF7 from Tototek (or if you could buy their SuperFlash flashcart.)
Uhm yes the flashcard was getting my attention as i noted they are deploying a small dev / dumpinmg kit with it...^^
Assembler, I tried PMing you twice, haven't heard back yet... You might not have gotten them... Let me know
