Yeah, the name says it all. Me, I work at McDonalds at the moment. I'd like to learn to draw better so that I can be an animator('cause I've heard that they pay a HECK of a lot of money(and I'd also like to do a graphic novel series on the side). But what about YOU, ASSEMbler? What job do YOU have(that question has haunted me since... just now)??
McDonalds is not longer a demeaning place to work, Only place I know of that activly tires to advance it's employees and teach them skills plus plenty of opportunity for advancement. Wal-Mart is the new McDonalds... most dead end place to work.
Actually, I chose not to work there 'cause I`ve heard stories of employees being treated like crud(although, I`m not sure if all Wal-Marts are like this one or if this is a unique case).
Pretty much all Wal Marts plus the lowest of the low shop there. I only shop at wal mart becuase they carry Pepsi throwback so cheap.
No where is "Dead end" at the moment as far as employment goes. Dead end is sitting at home as a NEET, which some people just can't help at the moment.
I work for Asda who are owned by Wal Mart. Cant say anything about Wal Mart, but I have done quite well with Asda, cant complain at all. Not what I have always wanted to do but pays the bills so to speak, and they are putting a lot into me with training and a promotion.
The Wal-Mart here in Chico, CA is quite a bit better compared to most. The vast majority of the time I feel like my skin is crawling to set foot in a Wal-Mart but here it crawls 60% less! Don't see the "People of Wal-Mart" types - far more often you see older folks or people with a lot of kids who are clearly lower in income. Personally I'm a student and do modding/repairs on the side (if that wasn't obvious by now). Wouldn't mind working at my Uni for electronics or computer work but I'd wager the entire engineering and comp sci departments are waging war there.
Mining consultancy engineering firm (design/commissioning/operations) as an electrical drafter, also qualified as an electrical fitter, ie in Queensland that means I can do most things apart from home installations stuff, which is weird as it's a piece of piss but there you go. Also repairs/mods for local Game Traders, but that may be finishing up soon as they may close down. Doesn't bother me as I have a family now, as well it would be neat to have time to actually PLAY my consoles (I have 19 or XBOX360/PS3 games I have either not played at all or put in watched the intro and put it back on the shelf, as well as al the retro stuff). Also I am keen to get back into RC cars and helicopters. I went to a model airshow yesterday with a mate and it re-sparked my interest. My mate is trying to push me into aircraft rather than helicopters, I agree with him to get back into it. I initially did Game Traders work to pay for the RC stuff but it kinda took over.
I'm a qualified teacher, not an ALT or JET. I work at a private elementary school. I only teach two classes a day and have my own office I do need to travel quite a bit at times to train people though which can be a bummer. Our first grade students have a better English level than 6th grade students in public schools.
@Yakumo Didn't you use to work in a factory a while back if my memory serves me right? Did you change your job? Sounds like it's more rewarding now. I don't work at the moment, or that is because University is usually not called "work". I just started school again last week, 2nd year of my degree. I had been working from 2009 til 2011, though... as a caretaker in a Kindergarten, a shelf-stacker in a supermarket, I carried boxes in a warehouse for 6 months and I was a delivery driver for meals on wheels for a year. I never wanna do any of that again, although the delivery driver job was really fun and relaxing. Driving all day on the countryside... I really miss that. Then again I wouldn't wanna trade University for anything in the world, the opportunity to learn something new is more valuable than anything.
I was a department manager in HMV back in the UK but I've never worked in a factory. My mother works in a biscuit factory though but I don't think I've ever mentioned that before. My job is pretty cool. There's not much stress and it's great to see kids having fun. There are those who well..... to be honest, aren't too bright. They drive me nuts at times due to no homework being done or basically being braid dead during a test.
