JET won't give you a prime location in Tokyo as most people would want that. You are going to end up in the sticks.

Yeah, that's what I figured from the big "hint-hint" in the instructions where it mentioned that places like Tokyo and Osaka are in high demand.

Well, somebody gets them. You just gotta be lucky. Smarter plan is to request right outside of Tokyo.

    Yep, that's my plan!

Application is coming along, I've got a million documents that I need to track down and have certified copies made of. Just discovered that my letter of reference also needs the person to filll out a form as well, so that's yet another thing that I need to do. I've got my academic transcript, certified copies of my birth certificate and the letter from my university proving when I will be graduating should arrive in the mail today. Would have been so much easier if they just pushed applications forward a few weeks when graduates from this year will have actually graduated.

Heard back from the embassy, I'm on to the interview round! But now they want a copy of my graduation certificate anyway! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! Why did I go to all the effort of getting you proof that I'll be graduating? Why didn't you just wait a few weeks??

I've just got word from the Consulate-General of Japan! I've been selected for a position in Hasuda City, Saitama! Rather pleased I got placed in my first choice of prefecture! I can't find much information about this city though, is anyone familiar with it? What's there? Is there anything they're famous for? Checking Google Street View, the place seems really ideal, looks like a decent sized city with a lot of older buildings.

Try to live in a different prefectures other than Tokyo like Osaka for example, because the housing in Tokyo pretty much more expensive that you have to pay more Yen for your apartment monthly. Going to Tokyo is not a long trip as Shinkansens will take you to Tokyo within 4-5 hours than driving on the expressway for 10-12 hours or so, that's like you drove from LA to Dallas for 1 day.

Yeah, it looks like Tokyo is only around 40 mins from where I'll be. That's like the same time it takes for me to get into the CBD here in Brisbane!
