I've been saying that for years after seeing how good a job Capcom did with the graphics on the MMX4-6 games. It kept the old school feel with modern graphics and audio.

They need to let Capcom remake the originals similar to Mega Man Maverick Hunter X and MegaMan Powered Up. Or they need to get off their own lazy asses and really work hard to make a real "Sonic 4" title taking advantage of the huge amounts of processing and memory available on current systems for an amazing 2D Sonic game doing the things I'm sure they wanted to do but couldn't back then due to limitations.

Aw, that was going to be my answer :)

Perhaps they should give him guns, probably to appeal to the youth market and children who enjoy the likes of 'Vice City'. This would subsequently lead to all hard-working parents emptying their pockets in an attempt to appease juniours latest blood-lust, while releasing it on a hyper-expensive new console. They should be sure to ruin the gameplay and the games original fanbase by making it unrecognisable to all the people who previously enjoyed Sega's mascot....oh wait....sorry, they did that already.

Getting bioware to do a small DS RPG based on the Sonic universe is like getting Shakespeare to write a SNL sketch: complete waste of resources...

I'll rather had those guys make a new PSO that can go against WoW:nod:

If there was an issue with the sonic franchise that was the lack of a real story, and today is the lack of a good story:lol:

But imo maybe the guys from bioware are sonic fans and actually want to make the game, so who knows what they could do...

I know that if SEGA gave me the opportunity of making a new 3D sonic game I would kick the shit out of all the old concepts.

Whats the problem with all these 3D sonic games? they're too damn SLOW.

Sure the loops and all that crap is so fast that you may accidentally fall and loose a live, but the second you get out from those areas (which BTW are scripted and not actually playable) the gameplay is slow to say the least, with lame puzzles that only make it even slower.

Sonic2 was the essence of the sonic gameplay: all levels were made so you could run trought them non-stop, and exploration was totally optional.

The 3D sonic games look a lot like SonicCD, which had those amazing (at the time) moments with rotations and stuff (like in the beggining of palmtree panic) but the rest was slow and boring exploration looking for the damn time poles and the badnick machine in the past.

If I made a 3D sonic it would be entirely running and jumping on stuff, no puzzles, no hidden areas you've to find, no dumb storylines or cutscenes and no "alternative gameplay" modes, just pure classic style.

Back in time towards a purer storyline. The events in the Megadrive games weren't specific, you could interpret them anyway you chose to do so.

As for the gameplay, 2-D/2.5D would suffice, something like pandemonium on speed.

It might also help if they weren't cranking out a new Sonic game every other week and instead they put a great deal of time and effort into one game.

On a slight tangent, how is Sonic & the Secret Rings?

Horrible, IMHO. Like Sonic Adventure (which I actually quite like) but with far more awkward controls and an annoying mission system. I JUST WANT HD GREEN HILL WITH COOL GUITAR LIXX AND 2D GAMEPLAY! GAH!

I thought it was quite good, easily the best of the 3D ones since Adventure. Granted, the mission system did get on my nerves and the controls were hard to get used to.

In most cases the fluidity of platform games is lost in when fully in 3d as there is more time lining up the next platform or obstacle. I`ve always found it a complete pain in the arse. Extra dimension = more hassle when it comes to platformers imo.

    Hmm, [starts to dig grave].

When Sonic and co were 2D games set in a world that was very fantasy with not a human in sight, it was very good and it worked well. The MD sonic games were masterpieces and Sonic CD was one of the best games on the Mega CD. It started to go wrong with Sonic Spinball, I mean WTF? The graphics were ugly, the music sounded completely off and don't get me started on the storyplot. Sonic 3D was trying to be too much like a kneejerk reaction to the success of Donkey Kong Country and again was the first game that showed how much harder it was to control Sonic. Chaotix was a sad back street abortion, Sonic Jam was a nice collection but the 3D bit could have been expanded, Sonic R was R...ubbish.

Then we come to the holy grail of Sonic Xtereme, except it always looked poor and without strong backing by Sega was always going to struggle, out of the videos that are bandied about on the internet, the 2.5D gameplay videos looked promising but thin and the 3D version looked awful.

By the time Sonic came out on the Dreamcast, it was like he had been reinvented with a stupid story plot (I don't remember people in any of the other Sonic games....), an idioitic control method and stupid cameras. By this time I had lost all faith in Sonic and since then every other game has been crap.

Nintendo got it right with Mario 64, just take Mario and the storyplot and put it in 3D, worked a treat, but even then it was the last good Mario game, Luigis Mansion was idiotic. Sunshine introduced those stupid fat blobs of people and gave it the most idiotic storyline that even a 5 year old who has played a Mario game once would find unbelivable, they would defend the tooth fairy to the hilt but Mario after this? I think not.

Maybe I'm getting old and becoming a grumpy gamer?
