I'm not sure if this is an approate section of the forum, so please forgive my ignorance in case it's not so. I need to buy the followng Japanese handhelds in new (maybe just in extremely untouched) condition: Nintendo Game Boy (original) and Sega Game Gear. I'm ready to pay quite an amount for them if they were launch models released in 21 April 1989 and 6 October 1990 accordingly. Do you have any advices on where should I look for them assuming I don't read Japanese (however Google can translate for me)? eBay and Amazon are sure thing considered already, but nothing of that kind is there. Maybe somebody here living in Japan could find them there for me for a fee?
Yahoo Auctions might be worth a shot. If you're not familiar with it, check out this guide. http://www.retrospekt.com.au/2010/01/357773503/
Thanks a lot, I've already tried to use Yahoo auctions but they were too hard to understand even with help of a translator. Will try the guide.
Realistically though you are going to struggle to find a new Gameboy console even in Japan, the Game Gear is more likely but only really the pack in game bundles are likely to show up (did pick up a new Puyo Puyo bundle for 12,000 Yen a good few years back....)
I'm afraid the biggest problem here is to ensure console is new indeed even if seller has said so. I mean, Japanese Game Boys have never came sealed, haven't they? And I think as for Game Boy I've found it here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...6&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160#ht_1233wt_1159 It has "Rev. 3" manual so not the first one but I really hope Nintendo Game Boy releases had no difference in consoles themselves based on these revisions, just in manuals. BTW, does anyone know any possibility to ask Nintendo for official info on this point?
