    Hi,
Can anyone in NY suggest a place I can get Wii from? - tried a few places but they all seem sold out on their pre-orders.

I live in Hoboken with no car, so would need to get to the place by bus/subway.

    Thanks!

The PATH train stops in Hoboken, right? Practically most of Manhattan is at your disposal for 1$. If I had the whole day i would go try the Times Square launch Toys'r'us at 12, or try some store like circuit city sunday.

SovietStriker - thanks for the help....I go thru Times Square subway each day, I'll go up and take a look.

    Cheers
    Bert.

(nem - Hoboken's cool, despite the strange name...it's also the the birth place for Frank Sinatra.....!.)

Try the Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Center. Probably the first place most people are going, but they should have tons of units.

Either way you're right in the heart of Manhattan and there's a million other places to check (including an underground hidden EB 1 block from Nintendo World in Rockefeller Plaza)

I went to Toyrus in Times Square today...they said they'd have a couple of thousand Wiis. They had 200 PS3 aparently. Came from a sales assistant in the games section.

I've also persuaded my wife to go with me at midnight....never done anything as daft for as this for gaming before, so should be fun...I'll post pics...

noreuge - thanks for the tip, never knew it existed, I'll check it out tommorow.

    Cheers
    Bert

Times Square was a non-event for me and alot of others....they handed out tickets to the first 1000 and told everyone else to go away.....

Nothing was said about tickets yesterday when I went to Toyrus and not even the people at the front door last night of Toysrus said anything - they told me to queue, while some manager guy at the back of the queue was telling people to go away- total confusion.

Saw Samuel Jackson tho....actually I didn't even see that, it was my wife that saw him coming out of a car and into a hotel in front of us (I missed it somehow?!?!).

They had a stage show with lots of lights, screens etc just off Broadway, but I didn't recognise anyone - I needed a native with me to spot who was who...

Keep hearing people saying they've got loads of Wiis so I'll chill until things die down next week.....

Can anyone explain why Sony launched their PS3 now?....seems pointless since the mass market can't get it?!....Is it for the history books so no one can say they were last to launch? sad if it was...

Went to Times Square Toysrus. They are selling 10,000 Wiis per day according to sales staff. What's more Nintendo are STOPPING them selling more than that per day.

The store was not busy, they had thousands in stock and they were not allowed to sell them.

Absolutely STUPID!!!!...what the feck are Nintendo doing?!?!?!?!

Maybe it's because Nintendo wants to control the pace at which these things are sold in order to give ordinary gamers a chance to snag a system SO AS TO AVOID seeing a bulk of them show up on eBay at inflated prices.

Also, perhaps the online infrastructure isn't quite there yet either. We've heard reports of people having trouble updating their consoles and/or hitting the marketplace. Maybe Nintendo's servers can't quite cope with this huge torrent of activity.
