I'm specifically looking for a replacement rf shielding for an original xbox. The inner metal case is quite rusty somehow, and while I've been able to find replacement plastic cases easily enough, no one seems to sell the rf shielding. Anyone have any ideas? -IceDragon
Where do you live. Hardly worth the price of shipping. But if you are close to Cleveland I'll gladly give you all you need. I'm sure you can find someone local who would be happy to donate this sort of thing. They may be hard to find only because they are worthless.
I have the part you're looking for by the way. Just like Buyatatri mentioned, it depends where you are... If the part becomes to expensive to ship, you can always sand away the rust and cover it in some kind of oil. Another user here had the same issue, and I told him to do that. Results were great!
I live in the south texas area, Corpus Christi to be specific. The rust on this is pretty bad, the console was a veritable bug farm before i cleaned it. It makes me cringe to see this happen to these old consoles...
just sand it or use a metal brush and scrape it that's what I done with the shield of my consoles. Also if you are in the US there is a place that is called llama.com that it might have it. I bought from them a cdrom, HDD carrier for my xbox.
The bins behind video game shops? Seriously, though, it's worth trying a video game shop... especially an independent. If they do repairs in particular, they may have a few floating around. The shop I worked in actually junked a whole load of Xbox parts before they moved to a larger shop as there's no call for them any more.
Why? It's an entirely commercial decision. Firstly, nobody was bringing in their Xboxes to repair - BECAUSE IT WASN'T WORTH IT. They could just buy a second hand, guaranteed Xbox off the shop. Secondly, whilst they moved to a larger shop, the size of the repair department was considerably reduced - where it was the entire basement before, it is now just a counter at the back of the shop. The other floors are storage for more stock.
To further your frustration GT does exactly the same thing.... ALL consoles.... I tried to save as many as I could, but I don't have the room at home.
This is why i just built myself a 5m x 3m shed mostly so i can organise my xbox collection, 30 x xbox's and 20 x 360's plus stacks of parts take up a lot of space - plus my xbox display kiosk untill my rumpus room gets built. I try to grab them when ever i can just for future parts.
Thats a smart Idea, ill try that. I hate it when my parrents and gf say I need to "clean" and "trow away" stuff. "never" I think in my head.
