A friend of mine is a customer of the British bank Barclays, and has been using kaspersky anti-virus as recommended by the bank, but the bank stopped using or recommending using kaspersky some time back. Anyway, her copies of kaspersky are now up for renewal, and she wants to keep on using kaspersky, although I've tried to talk her into using a free solution (such as the fantastic Avast! Anti-virus), so she asked me where the cheapest place to buy an activation code would be? She wants it for a tablet and a mobile phone (not necessarily for her desktop, as she rarely uses t), so can anyone recommend a good site that sells legitimate activation codes for kaspersky, please?

I know kaspersky's own site does so, but she says she's heard that ebay or similar has cheaper offers, but is afraid of paying for codes that turn out not to work. I've never paid for AV software (Avast!, AVG, and other free packages have always been great for me and my mates' PCs and laptops), so any advice is welcome. It must cover at least one mobile phone, and one tablet, thanks.

Up until a few months ago, Barclays bank recommended that all on-line banking was done on machines that were running Kaspersky anti-virus, to prevent users falling pray to key-loggers, scams, whatever. And Barclays gave it's customers free codes to run Kaspersky, to encourage customers to use it, but a few months back the bank stopped recommending or supplying Kaspersky:

My friend uses her tablet (Android) and her mobile phone (which I realise I can't remember the OS of, though I'm sure it's not an Apple phone) to do her online banking, and wants to stick with what she knows (Kaspersky). And since I don't use a mobile phone or tablet (well, I rarely use my tablet), I'm not up on alternative AV packages for that hardware, whereas if she was using a Windows PC then I'd recommend the brilliant and free Avast! Anti-virus.

Is there a really good AV package for Android tablets and mobile phones, preferably free, or not too expensive?

You basically dont need one for iphone or android is his point - dont enable "install from unknown sources" and you are pretty much good to go.

Any of the stuff on the play store that sneaks through likely wouldnt be detected anyway.

Oh right, I know that Apple's stuff is supposed to be fairly secure, but I didn't know that Android was. Is it recommended to do internet banking on Android tablets without any AV of any sort?

The main insecurities from Android come from side loading apps, which as Bad Ad said you can't do unless you go into the settings and allow it. But really, you shouldn't be scouring the internet for pirated apps from China anyway, or letting rogue websites convince you to download their super awesome anti virus thing that'll totally get rid of the virus you definitely have.

Antivirus for phones is a lot like this ad I had on my Nexus 7 (first release) back in 2014
There's a good chance interacting with it would be bad, especially if it misspells your OS name

ADN is DNA in French, so it kinda sounds like a genome enhancing drug.

    I purchase mine from ebay.

The Kaspersky keys I've had used 4 of them over the years with out issues.

I've recently bought a windows 10 pro key for less the £3, which has working fine too.

I have this lying around. 2 devices, one year. It's still sealed. I suppose it should work. £7.50 and it's yours.

Sorry for not replying sooner. My friend bought the codes (from ebay or Amazon, I think she said) not long after I started this thread, but thanks for all the replies anyway.
